I am exploring some vendors for outsourcing our reference checks and I'm wondering if anyone currently does this in their recruiting department.  One of the vendors we are looking into is Chequed.  Has anyone used them in the past, and if so were you pleased?

Thanks!

We do them ourselves, but I'm curious if you have talked prices with any vendors yet. And also why you are thinking of outsourcing.

Thanks for your comment, Amber.

I have talked prices with a few vendors.  On average the costs for an unlimited package have been $22,000-$28,000 + integration fees with our ATS system.  However, if you are a smaller organization they probably have cheaper packages for those who don't need the unlimited package.

Outsourcing references will be a big time saver for the recruiting department and allow them to focus more on what they should be doing.  We feel this will make the offer process go faster by eliminating some of the phone tag recruiters play in try to reach references.  We do at least 750 reference checks a year, if not more, so it is just getting too time consuming.

We use Chequed.com - my team and I love their tool!  They have been a pleasure to work with. The tool saves lots of time (no more phone tag!) and we've gotten negative references that are useful - something you rarely if ever get when doing references the old fashioned way.  Our candidates have been receptive to the tool and some have even commented that they are impressed by the tool.  Our hiring managers are also impressed with the depth and detail provided by the reference tool as well.  So what started out as a way to make a process more efficient for the recruiters has morphed into a tool more valuable to our quality of hire focus.  We are now working with Chequed.com to fine tune our reference questionnaire and be able to demonstrate how our quality of hire has been impacted by the tool.  I did work with their competitor at a previous employer - similar tool but I would say the customer support and responsiveness are much better with Chequed.  Hope that helps!

Thanks Lauren & Michele, appreciate the responses! And the information is great, even though we are not planning to outsource it right now.
