On December 31st, I returned to my desk at work for a short day that would see me set up several interviews, coordinate with my more active hiring managers, and still have enough time to take a moment and breathe.
In the previous week I had enjoyed some very interesting and fun AIRS training provided by the Right Thing, an ADP company where I now work having joined them less than 6 months ago.
The whirlwind end to 2012 caught me and made me just dwell on some thoughts, as a wise and wonderful ADP Director over our Services Staffing Team at ADP took a moment to invite us as her direct reports to write down and think, cherish, and value what we have.
2012 was an incredible year, it first and foremost saw me net about 80+ placements in 2 very wonderful companies, and made me stop and count my blessings on so many fronts.
The myriad of staffing projects and searches that built character, those moments that defined a legacy in one company and build forward momentum in another. About 7 full months spent at NetPolarity, and another 5 in my new ADP home in Salt Lake City, UT. It was a grand year of moments where I was able to help with key placements for clients and others the likes that I will remember for years to come:
ADP - AdvancedMD
ADP - Cobalt
ADP - Major Accounts
ADP - Dealer Services
Symantec
Adobe
Becton Dickinson
National Grid
Capital One
AAA
Yahoo
Hitachi
Schwab
Visa
Ernst and Young
Aerojet
VMware
Network Appliance
EMC
Genzyme
Illumina
Life Technologies
KPMG
Texas Instruments
Verisign
Bank Of America
Genentech
As one ponders the placements and incredible outcomes of each of these organizations and the total impact of a career over one year one is mesmerized and found happy to have brought to pass placements that help to impact and better other's lives.
Trully remarkable is staffing, how one can learn about multiple industries in the course of a 1 year time frame, make placements that prove an outward reward and better your situation and circumstances along the path.
Mine was a year that lead to placements of engineers, service professionals, financial analysts, marketing professionals, HR professionals, operations and procurement professionals, call center representatives, administrative professionals, software developers, executives, entry level, and mid level professionals.
It was a rewarding year that saw my staffing skills harness new energy and new passion. I am so blessed to be in an industry that demands the best of myself to give in every moment.
As I look forward to 2013 - my social media skills, my staffing skills, and coaching skills are all for the better.
As a whole recruiter and a whole HR professional I have seen staffing over almost 4 years transform my very life for the better and give me a sense of pride in a profession that demands so much, and offers so much to make myself a better man, a better husband, and father and a better person providing better service.
In all realms staffing is the place to be. With an upcoming labor shortage when baby boomers retire en masse, this is a profession where chipping away at the economy one hire at a time is surely the place to be.
As technology transforms the landscape and as we are on the forefront of all that makes staffing such a powerful employment home, it is in this that a man can't help but be grateful for what he has, in short - making a New Year's resolution to do well in every endeavor is a start, but really giving oneself and whole self to one's career, family, friends, and community is really what makes the incredible outcomes occur, one step at a time the remarkable opportunity ahead in 2013 is beyond even words, but in 1 year hence I am sure I'll be writing in the same awe inspired tone that I write now.
Making necessary and key hires still motivates me. It is a thrill to find the needle in a haystack, negotiate the deal, and close the books on each requirement such that satisfaction fills one's soul with complete and total commitment.
Such is the opportunity of staffing in 2013 - looking forward to a great New Year and a great Staffing growth momentum yet again.
Bring it on I say.
