There Wasn’t A Recruitment Marketing Entry in Wikipedia

I remember when I wasn’t allowed to use Wikipedia as a source for papers or research in school. Whether that was because teachers thought it wasn’t accurate or they wanted us to walk to the library to get a real book, it was extremely annoying. Well teachers, the times have changed―Wikipedia is nearly always the top source listed in Google for nearly everything, and it’s updated in a nanosecond. If Wikipedia doesn’t have an entry for a topic, I feel like it doesn’t exist.

So needless to say, when we over at SmashFly realized there wasn’t a Recruitment Marketing entry in Wikipedia, we knew we had to spearhead that operation to make it a known discipline that DOES exist in Wikipedia’s world (because it does, just ask analysts like Brandon Hall Group or Forrester, or our customers like Eaton and CH2M, or industry influencers like say, RecruitingDaily).

And who better to do it than the top listed search result for “Recruitment Marketing?” (I had to toot our own horn for that one!) Nearly eight years ago, our CEO Mike Hennessy, a veteran of BrassRing, paved the way for a technology that would holistically execute and measure all the efforts of attracting and engaging candidates before they apply, then integrate with the ATS to track the entire candidate journey from first interaction all the way through hire. These recruitment marketing efforts, inspired by inbound marketing, help organizations engage and nurture candidates to build stronger relationships and provide value in order to convert more qualified applicants.

But I’ll stop there. We’re still working on expanding the definition―and we’re prompting our partners, customers and others in the industry add to it.  We learn from our customers every day, as well as influencers and analysts in talent acquisition. Help strengthen the entry and bring knowledge to other practitioners!

Until then, we’re proud to direct you to an official Recruitment Marketing entry in Wikipedia. Behold!
