Tips for producing your recruiting video

Creating a recruiting video for your company is one of the new ways to tap new media to recruit. Its main goal should be as an employment branding tool that showcases your employees and give a sense of whats its like to work there. That is something we do well at my company Jobs in Pods. But any company can create a video, its cheap and easy to do.

So here are some tips for creating your recruitment video.

1. Be Authentic. Don't overscript your employees. Let them speak from the heart. Candidates can spot 'corporate speak' a mile away so speak in a true and transparent voice.

2. Keep it short. Candidates have the attention span of a soundbite so keep your video to between 2-3 mins long.

3. Clear branding. Have a clear branding message. What do you want the video to convey? Is it a day in the life segment, an overview of benefits? The video should convey a simple message.

4. Be creative. Make it interesting. Consider doing something like "Top 10 Reasons to Work at XYZ company". In other words, dont be dull.

5. Call to action. At the end of every video you create have a strong call to action such as "for more info on applying to our company visit www.yourcompanycareerpage.com. Always tell candidates what to do after they've watched.

BONUS TIP: make sure your video is formating so that it can appear on iphones. There are various "sizes" (3:2, 4:3, 16:9) when exporting a video. Make it so that it displays on any device.
