Question of the Day: What word or phrase do your candidates use that drive you crazy?

In follow up to today's RBC Daily:

There was an interesting Marist poll released last Friday that listed the most annoying words in English conversation. Any guesses on the winner? "Whatever" topped the list at 38% from the national poll. Others that made the list were “like”, "you know", and "seriously".

As recruiters we talk to numerous people day in and day out so it makes for a great question of the day: what word or phrase do your candidates use that drive you crazy and are akin to nails on a chalkboard

I hate Cover Letterss that begin with "In these troubled times" or similar.

All of the above plus:

I cannot stand it when someone answers a question with: "Well, that's an interesting story..."  no it is not an interesting STORY - just answer the question.

Also: reaching out to you

checking in

after all is said and done

Not only many of   my  candidate  have  said these  cliches but also   "ANYWAY"  is a word  thrown in  often while trying to explain their position ..    hate it  whey  they do that ,  even my  family  does it . and my  skin  crawls..

I have seen it all  in  33 years.  I believe,  although  occasionally I  still  get  some  shockers..

The one phrase I hate more than any other is

"Bill, I've taken another offer"

love all the responses, but was waiting on that one @Bill! Thank you and have a great holiday.

Good one! Right up there with "Another firm contacted me on this role".

Utilize drives me nuts. Use is perfectly fine and sounds better.

I hate "conversate" and "whatnot"

This from an actual candidate email I received  today:

"Kinda firm-ish... Mostly turgid.  Semi tumescent."

"Technically"

Yes, unnecessary words that don't answer the question.

Just today with an internal recruiter:

Me: When is John going to call my candidate?

Recruiter: John's schedule is impacted

Wth?

"I'm flexible" when asked about compensation, relocation, travel...
