THUMBNAIL - PJOH cover v3 BEST - W200 H320This book is about COLD CALLING.

So it's good for Recruiters who have phone fear.

In the next version I am taking Job Hunters out of the title.

My good friend, Matt Charney, accused me of being self-serving by posting a FREE BOOK.

And, my good friend, Tom Bolt, says it's irrelevant for recruiters so it shouldn't be here. But, sorry, neither statement is true. And if you read it, you can see that for yourself.

Now let me promote it.

I'm going to say, quite honestly, that I've never seen a book like it but, as you can see below, almost no one who read it agrees with me. So, who's wrong, them or me?

WHAT'S THE BOOK ABOUT?

It's a guide for anyone who feels nervous about cold-calling busy strangers to market themselves.

I contend that they have two weaknesses:

1. A childish fear of punishment that doesn't really exist.

2. A sense of guilt that makes them feel that they have to surrender to punishment by the angry strangers they think they're going to disturb.

2 NEW CHAPTERS

I just added a new introduction and a new final chapter to this future classic. Critics have called this book a shallow pep-talk by an unqualified author -- but I think it's the best self-help book you're ever going to read.

DOWNLOAD IT HERE

I've had trouble getting my friends to read it but, now, with the two new chapters, it's better than ever so stop resisting and download it here. - http://amzn.to/1aVNt9M

It normally sells for $2.99 - but TODAY IT'S FREE!

People who own the book already will get an automatic update - but, unfortunately, it will not be immediate.  However, the new introduction can be read for free anytime using the Look Inside function on the Amazon listing.

TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG

I didn't have an editor so you can do me a favour if you like. Write a short review that tells me where you think I went wrong.

If you write one and send it to me, I'll publish it here. If you post one on Amazon, I'll link to it. If you feel shy, read the first round of reviews. You'll see that anything goes. One critic complained that it isn't funny and she's right. I wish it was but it isn't.

THE CRITICS ROARED

"Animal doesn't have the professional credibility to write a book about psychology."

"its strengths are overwhelmed by the chosen plot device and the loose editing."

“Job-Hunting for Pussies”, is what Animal clearly wanted to call this book.. Even at the low, low price of zero dollars for the Kindle edition, this vanity publication is somewhat overpriced."

"When Recruiting Animal sent me his latest ebook, I was expecting to read the same direct, down-to-earth job search advice that I see from him on social media. I imagined job search strategies delivered “Anthony Bourdain-style”. That’s not this book"

YOU DON'T NEED A KINDLE

Please note: You don't have to have a Kindle to read this ebook. Just download the Kindle software and you can read it on your computer and maybe on some other devices as well. I know I can read .mobi files on my Kobo Mini (but not my Sony). - Download Kindle software here.

Thanks for challenging the consensus that this can be a place for more meaningful content than shameless self promotion and thinly veiled content marketing.  Appreciate your adding to the discourse here.

Matty, I'm giving it away for free. If you call that self-serving, so be it.

Comment by Tom Bolt on February 3, 2014 at 11:55am

As one who actually bought and read the book, I have to say that it didn't suck too much. Still, to Matt's point, targeting this to job seeker forums would probably get more love. I'll probably promote it again, so posting it here may have some positive meaning... even if you are preaching to the converted.

Dear Tom Bolt (whom I like), Recruitingblogs has a tag for Job Seekers. If they don't want me to post job hunter info here, I will gladly take it down. I certainly don't flood the place with job hunter info and, honestly, I get nothing out of it. If anyone wants to check the membership list of this network, they'll see that I am member Number 2. But this group has never taken a shine to me so I'm not inclined to post. However, a few months ago Ryan (whom I like) asked me to start posting my shows here again. So, I do. I'm negligent I admit but that's kind of because no one seems interested. So, I was going to update show postings and threw this in too - because it's free. Also this book is really about cold calling so it's good for recruiters who have phone fear. And I'll add that in the posting to make it clear.

Actually, Animal (whom I like) you completely fooled me with the "When you are job hunting you are a sales person..." part. You are right that it is applicable to anyone who needs to understand the the psychology of selling to people... and recruiters sell. Mea culpa <= I think that is Latin for "damn I'm sorry" but since we like each other so much that probably isn't necessary.

My good friends Tom and Matt actually made me write a much better promo. Perhaps when I rewrite the book that will give me a guideline for the tone (which many said was too bland).

Can I just download the new parts? I don't want to inadvertently start re-reading the rest of what the author (who I like) wrote (that I didn't particularly like).

The introduction is new and the last chapter is new. If you can figure that out, you won't get lost.

You're under no obligation dear tho. I already have your review.
