Robin,

I have been doing this for the last 17 years. I got stuck in Florida back in 2002 dealing with 7 different VMS systems. Nobody wins with these systems. Apparently, somebody came up with the business model as an answer to outsourcing jobs. To date most of the people I know around the country have simply stopped working these systems as it is not even feasible anymore. My recommendation for anyone still doing this is to change the model with the times and focus more on the perm side for now. Companies will eventually feel enough pain and go back to the old model. They just haven't had their workforce start retiring yet. Give it about 2-3 years and they will feel the pain. I know that ultimately this does't bring the cash cow in the door. I also know that this model tends to put the brunt of the blame on the recruiting staff. The part that doesn't change is the basics when it comes to really recruiting quality people to real jobs.

Hi Robin,

I totally understand where you are coming form as for the Ensemble Chimes banruptcy fiasco. I closely work with Kaiser as Tier 1 preferred vendor and heard many folks lost out big money when ECG went belly up.

Virtual Rainmakers and Virtual Sourcers for Lead Gen.... Ideas & Comments?

Hi - I had a great convo with Craig Silverman [Hireability] about this last week. I'd like to get others' feedback too:

I see many ads for sourcing, virtual recruiting, researchers, etc... I'd love to start a following of Virtual Business Development people and have Sourcers that Research Leads and Clients [companies & decision makers] over and above sourcing new candidates.

How would you build a strong, national, virtual team of business developers / researchers /… Continue

Who is Sick and Tired of VMS Systems - What is anyone doing to combat this?

My name is Robin Borough, I am EVP for Omnikron Systems, Inc., in Woodland Hills California. We are a technology staffing firm, 95% of our business is contract and contract to hire; 5% is perm.

Over the years, we've lost many major accounts due to VMS Systems. Starting with Universal and Chimes, Nestle and Chimes, Toyota and 3 different VMS Systems; Kaiser, WellPoint and now our largest client has selected BarTech using Fieldglass as their new VMS partner.

We've gone from… Continue
