Recently Overheard InTake Call Exchange Between A Hiring Manager And HR Director:
HR Director: “Are you on LinkedIn?”
Hiring Manager: (sheepishly) “No.”
HR Director: “Good! I don’t want anyone poaching you away!”
It was said in jest but you know what Winston Churchill said about jokes:
"A joke is a very serious thing."
I sit in on a lot of Intake Calls with a lot of…

"...with no union representation, participants on reality series are not covered by Hollywood workplace rules governing meal breaks, minimum time off between shoots or even minimum wages. Most of them, in fact, receive little to no pay for their work."
Explains some to me the popularity of social networks. More

We tried to have our regular MagicMethod Phone Sourcing Class Chat this week and we thought (Animal and I) that there was an Archive being automatically created with Chatroll but alas! There wasn't. This is the last part of the chat we were able to get copied once we came to to what was happening to the chat. The early part of the class was good with participation from several people. I'm sorry that part is lost. Following is the log that represents…

Tuesday’s MagicMethod Phone Sourcing Class Chat suffered from some of ning’s most recent changes but we got partially way in before the lights went out! RyanHaire and Celiaten were able to give us a partial glimpse into how they build company directories. You can read through the first twenty or so minutes of the Class Log

Hi,
Thursday’s MagicMethod Phone Sourcing Class Chat was a great success! We had about twenty people show up on pretty short notice including Shally Steckerl and Glenn Gutmacher to give us some great advice regarding LinkedIn’s most recent (and some hints at coming!) changes. You can read through the Class Log

ERE has been so kind as to publish one of my how-to's:
Many sourcing expeditions are doomed to failure because the sourcer “assumes” they have found what the customer wants. The fact is, in these instances, the sourcer hasn’t asked enough questions of the customer on the front end of the process to know what the customer wants. This is because they do not possess the depth of experience in sourcing to know what questions to… Continue

There was a developer from ning
Who created a chat box that could sing
But then he futzed with the code
And the problems did explode
It's now like a bird with clipped wings. ~ Steve Levy (RBC
Poet Laureate)
Suggestions to ning to fix the dang thing:
REINSTALL the copy and paste.
REMOVE the double spacing.
MAKE the chat history LONGER - as it is it goes abt 15 mins on an active chat -…

The anonymous comment on the Web site RateMDs.com was unsparing: "Very unhelpful, arrogant," it said of a doctor. "Did not listen and cut me off, seemed much too happy to have power (and abuse it!) over suffering people." Such reviews are becoming more common as consumer ratings services like Zagat's and Angie's List expand beyond restaurants and plumbers to medical care, and some doctors are fighting back.
They're asking patients to agree to what amounts to a gag order that bars…

One of the things I really began to pine for in this recession that is affecting many of us is the lack of sourcing "practice" that I used to get every day. I've found a couple paths to keep my skills cutting-sharp and I'll share them with you today in the
MagicMethod Phone Sourcing Chat but I expect you to share yours as well! See you at noon (EST) in class. Don't be late.
