So I am going to take a short break in my Sourcecon Oct 2015 series to address something that has been bothering me for some time now.

So recently there have been a few people talking about staffing tools, extensions, apps, etc. Some have questioned the need or use of these tools. These tools are designed, and shown to help staffing professionals, do things quicker, easier and save time and money. Yes of course one would hope that you have learned the foundations, or as I call them “The Building Blocks” of staffing and sourcing, that meaning Boolean, Semantic Search, peeling, ASA, xraying, Natural Language, engagement etc. That said that does not mean you should always do it the “old way”. For instance if there is a tool that can take a title and automatically come up with all the permutations for that title and create a string for you, why would you not use it. That is the point of the tools. Now some could argue great but what, which and when should I use the tools. That is a matter of self. Meaning everyone is different, everyone works and thinks differently. The methodology I use, might not work for others. If you are a new recruiter or staffing professional you still should want to learn about these tools, however keep in mind that you still need to learn the building blocks of sourcing and recruiting.

Next week I will talk about these tools, a methodology and how over time you will know which tools form which part of the staffing life cycle you should use and when.

The method to my madness is to not use gratuitous exclamation points on literally everything I write. Your excitement and passion for products and sourcing don't need grammar as supporting evidence.
