Every job description online should have a picture in it

The web is a visual medium. We all love to see pictures along with a story so why dont we put more visuals into job descriptions?

Its such as easy thing to do, or perhaps not since ATS's dont really let you upload an image. But employers need to start showing off their work environments is a more visual way since it can be a differentiator and a way to brand yourselves. This is especially true for companies who have that "cool" office space.

Even the most mundane building can look cook cool if you photograph it at certain angles. You can also involve your employees to help show candidates the people they'd be working with. But adding pictures to your career site and especially job descriptions just makes them more engaging and shareable.

One way a picture adds value is when sharing that page on social media. Whenever you share a link to one of the pages on your website, most social networks lets you display an image a long with it. Facebook for example looks for any image on the page and lets you choose. (it needs to be at least 200x200 pixels) Below is how it looks when adding a link. In this case its a job description for D.E. Shaw Research.

So just for sharing sake this is why your jobs need to have an image or two embedded in them. This is one of the reasons I created InstaJob the visual job ad creator for employers. I want them to get more visual!

In addition to text you need to add more interesting pictures to your social recruiting efforts. Did you know that tweets and posts that have a picture attached get more clicks and shares? Its a proven fact. Pictures will instantly make your efforts on social media better. Just do it.

Thanks, Chris. Another good reason to use pictures is that many applicants apparently can't read.

Cheers,

lol @keith...

I just uncovered this stat about facebook and images...Facebook now recommends images that are 1200x627...the latest Facebook site changes have put the emphasis on visual content. Digital strategies should be focused on images and other visual content.
