Topic: Sometimes the Only Thing to Fear is Fear Itself: ce again, this time I turned when I stopped. A couple passed down a distant road but no others seemed present. I felt like I was in a Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde movie. I half expected someone to jump out from one of the gated alleys I passed.It is easy to let your mind wander and become overwhelmed by the “conclusion-jumping” that takes place. I am cautious to a fault. My self-confidence alone serves as a protector, of sorts. There is not much that scares me. But even with that said, fear can have its way with you, causing an inability to think rationally or exercise good judgement. I arrived at my destnation safely but not before my imagination played a few tricks on me and my previous experiences with horror movies and scary plays almost got the better of me. It is sometimes hard to let go of a bad experience. They line the corners of our minds and have caused even the strongest to weep.Sometimes down the path of a business deal or split partnership echoes the footsteps of trouble. Do you ignore the sounds, the warnings and hope they will fade into the darkness or just go away? Maybe you are overly cautious and deny and decry any who approach you, as parent, partner, or licensed professional citing problematic differences and demanding clarity at every turn. We each have to find the right way for ourselves. Path-clearing solutions are not always visible nor are we always ready to see them.Fear can be destabilizing and immobilizing in any situation. Yes, it is good to be cautious. Yes, it is good to be careful and want what is best for your business, partnership or family. But in a sometimes convoluted effort to protect, do you close the right doors, the ones that lead to the freedoms we all seek? Unfortunately, it isn't easy being a grown up and having to make grown-up decisions. In this quest, we can find the courage and strength we didn't even know we had.Sometimes, the warnings we hear are not the warnings we think they are. They may be unrealistic responses to unfamiliar situations. In my adventures, I have often been bouyed up by reminding myslef that I am strong, knowledgeable, and experienced enough to handle the situation. Around the corner could be the greatest job of your career, the greatest love of your life or the perfect candidate. For me, it was the best Thai restaurant in London. Topic: For it's One, Two, Three Strikes You're Out...: r's name in muffled tones and eager anticipation fills the stands. The batter crosses in front of the dugout to home plate, accompanied by cheers and jeers. Wringing the bat in his hands, tightening his grip, he checks his stance and settles his feet. He brings the bat back with the full intent of achieving his team's goal - to win. Everything up until the swing is planning. The actual crack as the bat makes contact with the ball is organization in action. This connection moves to action - action which is motivation and direction. The run to first base paves the way for the next batter and moves the team forward, each act brought about by the organized plan. The coach sits and views all this with a watchful eye making adjustments as needed or encourages passionate play to continue. Direction is necessary to maintain organization and pursue victory. Evaluating each play and each player is the job of the manager. Was that the right next step? Is he in the right position? The coach and manager must communicate and supervise. Sharing concerns with the team must be coordinated and constructive in order for it to have impact and value. Whether you are a sole proprietor, only recruiter, part of a team, or managing the team, directing and leading from within - the 360° Leader - sees needs and defines action. Through example and motivation, goals are chased with zeal and are within grasp. Leadership finds its way to the center, whatever role is held. The leader, the manager, the director, or the motivator are the lead-off batters, clearing a path and holding the torch, not only for visibility and clarity but to pass on when the time is right. The control of resources plus focus are imperative in the game - keep your eye on the ball. And players have to reach - motivation pushes employees to reach. Don't wait for the ball to come to you, go to it. Meet it head on. As the team moves through practices and takes the field for the big game, a level of trust must be in place. The relationships among employees, the amity held with clients, hiring managers, or candidates must reflect the commitment brought to each game. The game plan reveals the barriers early on, they are surmountable. The playing of the game displays shortcomings, they can be rectified. The desire to win, the direction taken to make it so, comes from within and it is achievable. "My motto was always to keep swinging. Comment for: Jeff Weidner: 250 invites out. And another 100+- resends. Old Invites can be a Gold Mine. Yea I know you already sent them one invite but somehow it either got ignored or lost or forgotten. I started going through my old invites and resending the invites to people and they started accepting them. Many replied back and stated they didn't know how they missed the first one, so something at Linkedin might be loosing invites or people aren't clearing out their invite box regularly and it gets archived/lost. So go to your invitations then go to your Sent invitations. Sort by click on the Status column you will see a bunch of invites that have a "blank" status. Then RIGHT click on each "subject line column" (this is where is says "Invitation to connect on LinkedIn" or "Join my network on LinkedIn") and open in it up in a new tab or new window. Then I click on a tab and scroll over the person's name and it will pop a little java window with a summary of their profile, I double check to make sure their are not already on my first level and click the Resend Button. I then type in a more personal note as to why I want to connect and hit send. If there are any invitations without an email address or LI says they can't be delivered you can Withdraw the Invite. But, from what I've noticed, "Withdrawing" the invite does not necessarily put it back in your pool of available invites. Once you go thru all the ones with "Blank" status, use the page numbers at the bottom and find the ones with a "Sent" status and do the same thing, Right Click and Click the Resend button and write a more personal note then hit Resend. This will change both the Blank and the Sent status to a Replaced Status. After a few weeks (3-4) you can go back thru all the Replaced and Resend again. I'm not sure how many times you can send someone an invitation before Linkedin won't allow you to send any more and my guess is that if after 2-3 Resends they still have accepted they either aren't going to ever accept or are just not active on Linkedin. Also be fore-warned that if someone gets let's say 2 invites from you (one original and one resend) and they IDK both invites then Linkedin counts both IDK's against you. And with the 3 strike rule they will put your account on restriction. Reference: An IDK is and response by the person receiving the invitation of (I Don't Know "Sender's Name") which not only declines the invitation but also puts a negative "mark" on your Linkedin profile. After 3 IDK's you will no longer be able to send someone an email without knowing their email address and Linkedin will not release additional invitations to you after you use up your initial 3000 invites. On a first offense of 3 IDK's they ask you to read the rules and agree to abide by them via email.
