Just know what you’re choosing. When I first learned about the law of attraction, it was from my coach Jeanna Gabellini, and it was before The Secret came out. While I highly enjoyed the movie The Secret, it was only an introduction to the work of the law of attraction; and there is a lot more to it. In my conversations with recruiters, staffing people, men and women about the job and about life; it seems, at times as if people are confused about what the law is and how to make it really work…

It’s no news to any of you who recruit for a living that time kills all deals. We all know it. It is the mantra for recruiters. Why is it then that we still spend so much time explaining this concept and reiterating it to hiring managers?
Chances are, if you are really interested in that candidate, so is someone else. And at the end of the day, it’s usually going to be the player who moves the fastest to hire the person. As the candidate’s main point of contact to you, it is a…

As a first-class professional in your particular industry, what is the goal in life? What is your goal in life?
For many people in the world, real meaning in life is the next vacation, career success, or stepping up the income ladder. It is a life based on pleasurable experiences.
Many a human being has toiled their whole life to gain a pleasurable lifestyle only to find a life that is empty and meaningless. You only have to watch television for one evening to discover…

Social Media/Networking is great - Frankly, I like it. But there is also quite a bit to be gained from physical networking as well . . . and face-to-face networking is even more fun when it's not a card-exchanging fest and you have a chance to:
Climb a mountain. Explore the woods. Paddle a whitewater river. Sail the ocean.
Would anyone be interested in recruiters getting together to do the above . . . all the while discussing new ideas and sharing best practices? I…

Another in John's series of "brilliant" observations:
Another way of thinking about online community is the flow of activity across the front page of RBC. Each tidbit of conversation, each blogging broadside, each webinar, each chat are like the twinkling lights of a city as you fly over it. The faces, videos, forum postings and events indicate an ongoing set of interesting…

Ok, so I am supposed to come up with some fabulous ideas to recruit physical and occupational therapists. I have exhausted my resources through the national organizations, career builder, craigslist, njville, etc. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We use direct mail for the majority of the time. I would appreciate any feedback!

It's uncharted territory.

I was told by
LinkedIn that they are capping my
"Wireless Jobs" Group at 10,000 members. Knowing that, it's pretty safe to assume that the group will be capped before the end of the day as it's only 2 members shy of 10k.
I've already sent an email petitioning the powers-that-be to extend the cap to 15k, but I've not…

I saw something on this website about Dive, using it seemlessly in the Google search engine to search for resumes. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

As the
BBC reports, LinkedIn have raised £27 million from investors - valuing the 5 year old business at a
billion dollars. Not bad going.
Trick here is going to be what exactly LI are going to use the funds for. Clearly they're in a great position already with first mover advantage in the online business networking space. What I find notable about LinkedIn is that they are one of the…

For starters, it’s helpful to remember that our dream-job requirements often change over time. One job I held in my youth was a dream job at the time but would be impossible for me now because of the working hours. When I was twenty-something and single, I was perfectly happy to sit in a conference room with my workmates, eating cold pizza and talking shop at 8 p.m. Couldn’t, wouldn’t consider that now.
You may have longed for a management role at one time and realize now that’s the…
