Hiring Demand Skyrockets to New Highs in Omaha

While much of the US has seen flat or declining hiring demand over the past months, Omaha, Nebraska has skyrocketed to new highs. During October, more than 9,300 job ads were posted online – 93% of which were placed directly by employers (8,700 job ads, up 92% versus October 2010) and 7% of the listings were advertised by recruiting firms (610 job ads, down 40% year-over-year).

Silicon Valley Demand for Tech Talent

For the first time this year, we are seeing a decrease in the volume of online job ads posted for Computer and IT related jobs when compared to the same period last year.  Employers and staffing agencies posted just over 27,000 new online job ads during the last 60 days, representing a decrease of approximately 4% versus the same 60 day period in 2010.

Where are the Industrial Engineering Jobs?

Engineers – particularly Industrial Engineers – have been in high demand this year. However as the end of the calendar year approaches, hiring demand for most occupations decreases. Industrial Engineers have seen this slowing since the summer. In October, Recruiters placed a total of 15,900 new online job ads for Industrial Engineers in the US. Job Ads for Recruiters Drop in October

In the first half of this year, hiring demand for Recruiters was growing – a promising sign that employers planned to do more hiring. However, over the past several months, the volume of job ads for Recruiting professionals has declined significantly. In October, demand dropped again with about 4,700 new job ads posted online for Recruiters, 10% less than in September and down 9% versus one year ago.

Hiring for Social Media Skills Continues and Creates Hard-to-Fill Occupations

 

Employers have consistently increased their demand for social media skills this year. Since January, the volume of online job ads has increased by 40%, with more than 10,000 new ads posted during September. Demand was seen in many job functions – Marketing and Public Relations, Web Development and Software Engineering, Recruiters, Sales, and many other fields.

2012 Marketing Budgets Expected to Grow – Will Hiring Demand for Mareketers Regain Momentum?

Early in the year, we reported that the hiring demand for Marketing Managers was growing. However, since the 4-year high in May 2011, hiring demand for Marketers has been slowly slipping. Hiring Demand for Software Engineers

Computer Application Software Engineers are a highly demanded tech job. At the time of writing, about 6,600 US employers are advertising more than 97,000 unique jobs online for this occupation – 26,000 of which have been  posted in just the past 30 days. Demand for this occupation during September grew more than 23% from the same month in 2010 and 78% compared to 2009. Hiring Demand for Recruiters Still Growing – Up 10% in September

During September, more than 5,300 job ads were posted for Recruiters. Although a decline from August's post-recession high in demand (when more than 6,000 new jobs were advertised online), this represents not only a 10% year-over-year increase, but also 7% growth from the beginning of the year. Engineering Jobs Ads in Canada Grow 11%

Similar to demand in the US, the volume of job ads for Engineers in Canada has seen increases this year. Over the past 90 days, Recruiters placed more  than 18,000 new job ads online at an 11% year-over-year increase. The majority of the ads were placed by employers (73%), while staffing firms represented about 27% of online ads.

Growing Demand for CRM Skills

During August, Recruiters placed more than 24,000 unique job ads that included requirements for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills. Jobs that Require Government Security Clearance up 24%

Over the past 90 days, more than 45,000 new job ads have been posted online that include requirements for government security clearance, representing a 24% increase in ad volume versus the same 90-day period in 2010. Hiring Demand for Recruiters Increases Again in August

During August, more than 6,000 new online job ads were posted for Recruiters.  About 3,200 (52%) jobs were advertised by staffing firms and 2,800 were posted by employers (48%), both seeing about a 26% increase compared to the beginning of the year. This also represents a 31% year-over-year growth in hiring demand.

Employers Increase Demand for Interns by 23% in August

Despite nationwide hiring being reported as unchanged by the BLS last week, the demand for interns has been strong over the past months. In August, there were more than 12,000 internships advertised online by direct employers.  The volume of job ads for interns has increased 18% from July to August and 23% compared to one year ago.

As Healthcare Hiring Continues, Employers Keep Job Ads Online Longer

Healthcare Practitioners are in demand. With many sectors seeing decreased hiring, healthcare is one of the few areas that has seen consistent growth and there aren't any signs that it will slow. The competition for talent is fierce and job ads are being left online longer in the hopes of filling positions. Recruiting Agencies Posted over 390,000 New Jobs Online in July

In July, staffing agencies posted more than 390,000 new online job ads, the highest volume so far this year.  Job ads by recruiting and staffing firms were up 10% from the previous month and 32% from July 2010. Since the beginning of the year, staffing firms have advertised more than 2.5 million jobs in the US, accounting for 28% of all jobs that have been listed online.
