job search market at the moment. Because of this, some candidates are going above and beyond to market themselves to potential employers.
CareerBuilder and
Harris Interactive recently completed a survey among 2,543 full-time hiring managers and human resource…

This has been the year of the Coding Manager search. I have a dozen active Coding Manager searches right now with hospitals all over the country, and these are urgent and critical searches.
Coding Managers are essential to hospitals because the coding of medical records links the services performed at a hospital to the billing generated and the revenue received. Without good coding, there is no cash flow into the hospital.
A Coding Manager must bring both the skill sets of…

Just read a very interesting article in the USAirways Magazine, (taken from the Harvard Business Review) which was enlightening and perhaps worthwhile to consider in dialogue with HR Managers or OD executives. Do a search for USAirways Magazine, then look for the above title.

Dear Claudia,
I’m a sales recruiter who takes on splits to supplement my work load. Recently I started working on a project to build out a full team of account executives for another recruiter’s client; we’re making good headway and two of my candidates are interviewing this week. So what’s the problem? Last week I get this introduction to a senior sales manager in a “quiet search mode.” You guessed it – it’s the hiring manager for the account manager search. The manager doesn’t… Continue

So Happy Holidays to everyone. While typically I like to discuss hiring tips and techniques directed more towards hiring managers than job seekers, I’d like to go a little different route this month, and focus these remarks towards job seekers. Let’s face it, at some time or another….we are all job seekers.
Most people have been affected in some way by the economy. Either you’ve lost your job, lost a portion of your income, made a change to a new career, or at least know someone that…

Latest story: A hiring manager I am working with in medical sales asked for a completed job application, rather than just a resume. The job is a 65 -75k base, with another 45k up for grabs in commissions. Nothing to sneeze at, surely. When the manager reviewed the application, he discovered that the candidate didn’t fill out the references area or any of the money questions. (You do leave this stuff off a resume, but not off an application when they are specifically asked for.) The manager that…

8 Cool Ways to Engage Your Hiring Managers and Hire More “A-level” Talent
by Lou AdlerMay 29, 2009, 6:01 am ET
If it wasn’t for hiring managers, recruiting would be so easy. But, alas, this is not to be. Instead, we can either confront them head on, or put our heads down in despair, and find still other perfectly qualified candidates they still won’t like. Unfortunately, too many recruiters fall into this endless productivity-draining black hole, and wonder why the latest new sourcing…

As many of you know, I have a weekly live webshow on MomTV Sundays at 9:00 PM EST where we talk about the unwritten rules of the job search. Do you think you can find the right candidate for the right job when your resume database has resumes that were updated a year or years ago? Certainly not. There is every possibility that candidates might have updated their resumes – may be added a few certifications, acquired skill sets, domain experience or even changed their contact details, etc. So it is very vital for recruiters and hiring managers to find and extract the updated and qualified…

I don’t know what’s more difficult; trying to help the unemployed IT pro’s out there find quality jobs that align well with their career direction or telling them that I can’t help them because they enlisted the help of there spouse, friend or neighbor, and have had their resume forwarded around to many of the potential jobs before I ever spoke with them.
I know that every self proclaimed job search expert will tell you that “networking” is the best way to get a job, but what they…
