These are probably the two hottest words on all recruiters and decision makers lips. Along with that naturally there are thoughts, does this process work? What is in this process for me? Is it a fad? Does it suit the image of my company? Does it fit in with our corporate plan?
Social Media has become an integral part of the way we live and…

This is a blog that has been waiting to get out for some time. There are many definitions about what defines greatness in this day and age - specifically about what makes for recruiting greatness - it is a topic that I find interesting. There are many definitions that one could look at, but at its fundamental core there is a differentiating factor - is it number of fills, is it ones grasp of boolean or superb negotiation skills, is it the ability to close difficult candidates, is it the…

Is this a:
Carnival Barker? No, but close.
An Evangelist? Sometimes.
A Used Car Salesman? Sometimes.
A Corporate Recruiter? Indeed!
What could this company recruiter possibly be saying to attract the attention of this crowd of job seekers?
I’m guessing your guess would be wrong, but take a guess anyway.

Last week we discussed the fact that most Australian recruiters are being paid on a "Contingency" basis when they are proving "Retainer" services, ie: they are putting forward a number of suited candidates for the client to choose from, but the client doesn't end up picking any and therefore doesn't pay ANY fees to the recruiter.

Process makes perfect!!
As, with anything, that involves multiple people or entities having to work together, it goes much easier when everyone understands the hows and whys of working together. As a staffing professional, we must ensure we establish the process we will use to help our clients fill positions. A well established and agreed upon process makes it easier all around. Everyone knows what to expect from you and what is expected from them. Go so…

Yep. I was in there. Mentally I was already making my plans.......but I've already been outbid and the auction doesn't end for 11 more days. What auction? This one. This place. Here. "We" are for sale!
Am I cut out for blog ownership? Nope. I'm a recruiter.
Would I be bummed out if the next owner of RBC decided to turn the place into something that wouldn't even resemble the place we've come to know and…

It's been a while since I last posted on here - that's because I've been really busy keeping my head above water in this never ending recession. Anyway, I've noticed many references by recruitingblogs to Bounty Jobs... I'm sure they are paying recruiting blogs to promote them.... which is fine, that's how recruitingblogs in part make their money.…

I know, amazing. Guilty as charged, right here too.
Let me back up…If your organization is tactical in nature and responsive to every fire the C-level throws at the HR department to fix, then that is precisely what you will get – every fire and nothing more. If you are responsive, but also focused on autonomous mastery of the HR discipline, consistency of purpose, and include everyone in your organization in this transformation – the C-level will come to you for that…

Recruiting the right talent for your organization isn’t easy. But thousands of recruiters and companies every day are able to successfully find candidates that fit their organizations. That isn’t to say, however, that there are not things that can be improved in their recruitment marketing strategy.
Filling the current open job position is the immediate goal for your organization but the…

There are several dimensions to the question of privacy and how it plays into background checking (and I may talk about some of them in future blog posts) but here I want to address the issue of what I call the “always there” trend. The trend itself is not all that new. Since the invention of email and laptops employees and managers have felt an increasing obligation to always be available for work: Nothing new there. The new part comes when you start to look at the opposite side of the…

Although the pace of US job growth appears to be slowing for most sectors, hiring demand for recruiters by corporate HR departments and staffing agencies has boomed this year, up 64% since January. On a year-over-year basis, demand was up 36% over May 2010, with over 10,100 new job ads posted. Hiring by direct employers made up the bulk of this activity, with over 6,600 ads or 66% of overall demand. Demand by direct employers has also increased at a faster pace, up 44% over May 2010 vs. a…

The International Union of Food Workers have yesterday revealed progressions in Russian Parliament, which if followed through could see a ban on the use of temporary agency workers in Russia.
If the bill is adopted it will undoubtedly cause a huge shake up in the Russian food production industry, especially after findings show that over 40% of organizations surveyed confirmed their use of temporary agency labourers as being a core level of their production.

With competition for open positions higher than it’s ever been, a correspondingly high emphasis is placed on error-free resumes and position applications.
A recent survey of Human Resources executives revealed that an overwhelming 76% offer no forgiveness for even a single typo – which often times includes a correctly spelled but improperly used word (affect versus effect, for example).
Businessinsider.com offers a great selection of common resume mistakes…
