Affiliate programs are marketing tools used by vendor sites such
as amazon.com. Basically, you need to sign-up for the program
and they will give you an affiliate ID number. You will receive
instructions on how to create links to their website from your
own website or written article. You can even create links to
specific products on their website. When a person clicks on the
link you made, the vendor site takes note of the reference
number and your ID number. If the…

you can. The problem is, even with a high paying job, you can’t

Keeping people interested in your blog, whether it is a business

With affiliate programs, you can easily sell products without
even having to have the product in your hand. As nice as it
sounds, you still need to have you own website; it is a
requirement for many affiliate programs. Having a website is
ideal, but to really make money with affiliate programs, you
need to have a website that receives a relatively high amount of
traffic. If you would like to increase the amount of traffic
that your website sees, you should…

(This is something I wrote up for a friend that I found out lost his job via his Facebook status...)
Here are just a few ways to use Facebook as a tool in your job search
1.
1)Sync your Twitter feed with your Facebook status. Then use Tiny URL to embed your resume in your status. If you are not too web savvy then post your resume on Resumebucket. Almost every day I see a status about…

So, I made a rookie mistake this week. I have a candidate that I have become friendly with and we talk and goof around through e-mail a lot. I set up an interview for him this past week and after it was over he e-mailed me and told me the interview was lame and the interviewer wasn't exactly a rocket scientist. My candidate is a high-level risk modeler and analyst and this company is smaller and I guess still immature as young capital companies go. Anyhow, after I received his feedback I…

If you fear Friday the 13th, then batten down the hatches. This week's unlucky day is the first of three this year.
The next Friday the 13th comes in March, followed by Nov. 13. Such a triple whammy comes around only every 11 years, said Thomas Fernsler, a math specialist at the University of Delaware who has studied the number 13 for more than 20 years.…

I have spent over a year working with and getting trained on several assessments produced by Target Training International. Recently, I have started studying for the certification exams for the DISC and the Personal Interest, Attitudes and Values (PIAV) assessments. Wednesday night I took the exam for the PIAV and found out the next day that I passed!
This exam was quite brutal even for someone who has a background in industrial-organizational psychology. When I first opened the link…

I have been thinking about many things and experiencing “Web 2.0 overload” in my attempts to secure a new position and get my own enterprise off the ground. While some of what I am going to discuss here is obvious, I feel compelled to write about it.
There was an excellent discussion on RecruitingBlogs.com started by Jennifer LaVigne entitled “Cold calling and your best pick up line.” There were insightful comments from every smart person that participated in the discussion. What…

Today is the day that Pitchers and Catchers report to spring training. One of the Great Days for baseball fans. This has been an exciting day for me for most of my life. I love baseball and even with all the problems the sport has had in recent years, it's still the greatest game to me. I love the strategy of the game and see some great parallels with our business.
For one thing, baseball is situational. There's no time clock so strategy is centered around situations, circumstances…

I recently placed a candidate in a position within a large Defense Company. The candidate went for his interviews, did great and was offered the position. The candidate got an offer letter with a very nice relo package. All was well on both sides and the candidate is scheduled to start 2-23. The company came to his house and appraised his stuff for shipping; they even measured the length of his dog to size for a crate. The whole nine.. I just go a call and they told me that his status has been…

As much as I hate to admit it, the honeymoon period seems to be coming to a close for me. In no way does this mean I dislike my job, who I work for, or the people I work with. Rather, this week finally brought forth irrefutable evidence that the company I am working for is not, in fact, immune to the recession.
In all honesty I knew this was the case all along, but at least for a while it seemed as though the proactive stance that was taken to operate as frugally as possible was…
