ERE Washington D.C. in a nutshell

Kudos goes out to the ERE staff on last week’s conference in Washington D.C. I was able to catch some great speakers, connect with friends, network, and have Jason Davis take all my chips again in a semi-friendly game of poker. (Proceeds to the ERE Foundation)

You know an event is big when Gerry Crispin chooses to bring his newest product out of R&D and unveil to the market at…

Is Facebook Worth It For Job Boards?

With all of the hype currently surrounding Facebook, I thought I’d see how things were stacking up for the job boards that have embraced the social network.

In the UK, Jobsite and JobTonic have taken the plunge, with CareerBuilder set to release a UK centric version soon. In the states, CareerBuilder, Jobster, HotJobs and Indeed have joined the Facebook party;…

Rock Stars

We read, create and participate in research pertaining to attracting and retaining top talent all the time. Research that clearly illustrates why employees stay and why they

leave. Just last week I stumbled upon an article by Kris Dunn

confirming the fact the employees don't leave for more money. Employees

stay for the people and connections they have made, the challenges…

Not only that, they were handing cameras out to everyone to take pictures of whatever they wanted. Then the cameras were returned and all of a sudden, JobTarget was the proud owner of hundreds and hundreds of pictures from the show. The results can be found at… Continue

U.S. Median Voluntary Turnover Rate: 11 percent

Watson Wyatt, an international association of human resource professionals, released a study today that may send shivers down the spines of management: a large majority of companies in the United States and around the world are struggling to attract and retain top-performing and critical-skill workers.

The study, which included 946 companies and a complementary survey of 13,000 employees, found that the United States has the highest median voluntary turnover rate, at 11 percent,… Continue

Why I am not a Republican

The Republican Party never felt right even when I was 10 (about the time I decided on what I was). I would rate my ethics high, which means I could not be a part of anything that took from others, destroyed land or resources for my own profit, and put myself above anything or anyone else. I try not to destroy other living things because they are not convenient to me. I believe that everything has intrinsic value (I do draw the line at certain vermin and noxious weeds). Maybe because of these…
