Cooperation With Recruiters

I have been working in a sales capacity throughout Asia for over 25 years. I have a vast amount of connections at every level within the Semiconductor Industry. If there any recruiters out there who would like to collaborate or receive my assistance in any way I would welcome their contact. During my career I have been an expat in Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore and Spain. I have worked in all the Asian regions that have a semiconductor base including China, Japan, Thailand. My…

On the Radar: Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Interesting read in the Minnesota Daily:

The bubble of social networks is starting to burst.

Research released from Internet research firm ComScore Jan. 23 confirmed that the top two social networks, Facebook and MySpace, both saw their traffic decline by double-digit percents.

The research, conducted in November and December, surveyed browsing habits of more…

Standout Jobs is Happy to Sponsor RecruitingBlogs.com Networking Event in Vegas

Just wanted to extend my thanks to Jason - RecruitingBlogs.com is a great resource and he's been a big supporter of Standout Jobs. And I'm very happy to be sponsoring the Networking Event in Vegas. I think it's a good way for people in the space to connect at a grassroots level - and that includes the Recruiting Roadshow.

I hope to be there. And here's our brief announcement on our small participation:…

The Politics of Sales Professionals (Yes, Recruiters Too!)

February may give birth to “Super Tuesday” each year, but there’s another political process that takes place 365 days a year in corporations across the globe that is equally interesting to me.

Of course, I’m referring to the politics of Sales Professionals (and…

Not many people love (or even like!) their jobs?

There was a discussion over on LinkedIn a couple weeks ago where Doug H asked,

“Why do people write angry emails at work?” There were several answers posted but this one, by Ray H, caught my attention:

“Not many people love their jobs...most dislike their job, feel unappreciated and underpaid. Although they may be good at their job, they don't like doing it. Others like their job, but aren't that good at it…”

Do you agree with this assessment? If so, what do you see as… Continue

Online Job Advertising Up In January (Just)

Recruitment advertising in the UK crept up in January, according to the born Job Advertising Index, but only just. The index experienced only a one point rise, up to 90 points from 89 points in December. Surprised? I was.

I’d expected to see a far more significant…

Oh Brother, Big Brother lacking in intelligence?

On the Radar: Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

From InformationWeek:

In keeping with its mandate to gather intelligence, the CIA is watching YouTube.

U.S. spies, now under the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), are looking increasingly online for intelligence; they have become major consumers of social media.

"We're looking at YouTube, which carries some unique and honest-to-goodness intelligence," said Doug…

something i may do .....i

A recent article I read .

Let's fantasize about what it would be like to take maybe a month off (or, since we are dreaming, maybe even two) just to do succession planning. It would be a time frame when no jobs are assigned, and you have a complete focus on finding candidates for jobs that are not yet open.

At Brown Shoe Company, we have established a program to do this. We call it the "Strategic Month." Each corporate recruiter doing full-cycle…

Hump Day Humor 2/6

A REAL ESTATE SALESMAN AND HIS BOSS

A Real Estate Salesman had just closed his first deal, only to discover that the piece of land he had sold was completely under water.

“That customer’s going to come back here pretty mad,” he said to his boss. “Should I give him his money back?”

“Money back?” roared the boss. “What kind of a Salesman are you!?! Get out there and sell him a houseboat!”
