Today was a good day. Today was one of those days that energizes
someone like me. Today was a day full of really good candidates, a

Poor Employment Site Usability – What’s it Costing You?

The goal of a corporate career website is to attract qualified candidates as well as encourage them to submit their resume to a job of interest. Unfortunately today’s corporate career websites and their applicant tracking systems lack website usability elements that make it difficult to achieve this goal.…

RecruitingBlogs.com - A little layout change for a while

I am messing around with the layout of RecruitingBlogs.com

Ning has now limited the amount of things you can now have on the main

page. I have no issue with it. At first I did but now it seems I need

to take another look at what is on the main page and make some

decisions. Right now, I can't really add any more boxes so things are

going to change a little.

In the meantime, there are lots of pixels you can get for free and they

will last for 3 days. It's… Continue

Remembering Work, Life, Love Balance

I want apologize for being slow to post the past few weeks, my father had back surgery today. No matter how much I love to share my passion for my chosen career, it doesn’t compare to the love I have for my family and they will always come first, no matter what.

Not only was this the first time in my 36 years that I had to see…

Where's the Science in HR?

Yesterday, I read an article from Workforce Management on the correlation, or lack there of, between HR and the popular television show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation around failures and successes within various organizations. All this talk of forensic science reminded me of a speaking engagement I attended with Jim Stroud last year on Resume Forensics. The audience was quite taken aback with Jim's insight…

The Million Dollar Wiki - Was Only a Matter Of Time

It's The Million Dollar Wiki and yes you can also buy a blogger. I learned about this from a real good domain name blog called the Conceptualist. He says you should avoid the hype but he figures the guy has made 50k or so.

I think this is something that we will see more and more of in the next year or so. There is absolutely… Continue

Latest Activity Function On RecruitingBlogs.com

Over the weekend, Ning launched a few other functions for the networks they power. One of these new functions is a "latest activity" feed. You can see everything that is going on now on RecruitingBlogs.com quickly. I have put this on the right hand side of the site and it will also appear on every profile page above the Live Recruiting Blogosphere Feeds. If it dives you crazy, let me know

As we are on the eve of a new era in recruiting with the first ever conference dedicated to Sourcing and Talent Acquisition, I wanted to say thank you to the organizers. Is this the future of Search Engines...I think so!

Maybe, I am a geek but I had to forward this one as I was pleasantly surprised with this new search engines marketing approach to maybe making the search engine a little more personable.

Thanks to Suzy Tonini for putting this on my radar

Enjoy !…

8,001 on Linkedin - Thank You

By Dave Mendoza, Master Cybersleuth, an Affiliate Partner, JobMachine Inc.

Yesterday I hit 8,000 connections on Linkedin.

I am stating it not to boast - I don’t throw footballs in the end zone with creative knee wobbling.

I simply want to mark the occasion to publicly thank everyone who has connected with me.

I thought Glenn…

Holy web 2.0 Batman!!

Today’s bit of Friday morning humor focuses on two characters in the online recruiting industry. Personally, I think it’s interesting how people view characters in our industry; some as heroes, some as villains, but we all play some type of role somewhere. Like Animal, who I see playing the “Creepy Uncle” role, you know the…

With all due respect to Slouch, he created Recruitingblogs.com, not I. Dave Copps was still very kind in his mention of me in a recent Sourcecon email. More here: Props From Copps
