However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel that is causing his business to hold it’s own and even improve - the availability of top performers from other dealerships that lost their jobs.
Instead of waiting around for the market to…

Dear Claudia,
I am sick, sick, sick of hiring managers who won’t pay to relocate candidates, and candidates who won’t consider relocating to take a great job. Everybody wants what they want they way they want it – aren’t we in a tough economy right now? What ever happened to adjusting to reality? I need some suggestions to sell both sides better, because begging just isn’t cutting it. What do you recommend?
Beggars Can’t Be Choosers

Well, well, well, the market has changed once more, how bad will this be? I pity the younger people who have never seen a slightly less optimal market. They could be likely to believe all the hype, all the doom and gloom and just keep staring at their screens wondering which bit of sky will fall next.
Now don't get me wrong, I am not making light of the situation, from what I can understand, things do seem a little dire. But to quote the lion king, there is a circle of life,…

November 5th is rapidly approaching us. With so much talk in the news lately about the difference in opinions between presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama, I thought it would be good to address an issue that they both have similar views on – they both support argument that H1B Visa’s issued in the United States per year to be expanded.

I read an interesting article over the weekend. It's called "The Death of Contingency Search", written by Adam Robinson, Founder & Editor of Better Hiring Today (http://betterhiringtoday.com/2008/09/10/the-death-of-contingent-search/). He makes some interesting points. One of them is - "Recruiting is no longer about who you know. It's about throughput". I thought this paragraph was particularly relevant:
"Which brings me to the issue at hand - the massive change going on in the…

Cell phones are an incredible convenience for all of us, but also a major source of irritation when people don’t remember their manners while using them in public places. One of the biggest blunders you can make? Answering your phone while in a job interview!! Seems obvious, I know, but believe me, it happens. If you answer your cell while in an interview for medical sales, pharmaceutical sales, laboratory sales, clinical diagnostics sales, medical supplies sales, pathology sales, imaging…

The other night I was reading a bedtime dinosaur book to my two "older" boys (ages 7 and 3). Looking at the vibrant illustrations in the book, my adroit 7 year old asked, "Dad, if Paleontologists learned about the dinosaurs through fossils, then how do they know what colors they were?" "Good question!" I replied proudly. "Mostly they don't. They can guess and estimate about the color of the creatures from what they know about their feeding habits and their environment. But they don't really…
