Why I Won't Stop Blogging

The following is a real conversation I had last week with Jason Davis.

It is not a reenactment by paid actors:

This Note's For You

My friend Heather Hamilton who never ever calls me back when I leave her a message wrote a post the other day about social networks and recruiting. I left her a comment saying that if she ever wants to recruit recruiters she should never check out RecruitingBlogs.com.… Continue

Resumes on Google: Extracted and freshly squeezed

On the Radar: Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Courtesy of Lonnie McRorey, a custom search engine for extracting resumes using Google. For an example of software engineers in California, click here.

Imperfect on most searches but helpful for the boolean-challenged, particularly for IT and engineering.

What do you think?

Buzzy Jobs - International Recruitment Job Board

I recently joined a start up venture launched on 2nd January 2008 with Buzzy Jobs (www.buzzyjobs.com) and Buzzy Agencies (www.buzzyagencies.com). The company is privately owned and not part of a group like some of the major job boards in the market place.

Jason Goldberg: The Startup CEO School of Hard Knocks

Recently Jason Goldberg, previously CEO of Jobster, wrote a great article on lessons learned.

This is a follow up piece to that with additional thoughts and commentary (from another CEO with lessons learned, and now getting into the job space...)

Recruit Through Blogging

Six months ago, we discussed the utilization of company blogs for recruiting. What surprises me is the hesitance that some organizations still have to jump on the band wagon. Those slow to adapt certainly bring up valid

points, such as the potential negative impact, employee selection,

and/or maintaining some sense of control. However, isn't the whole

point to allow freedom of speech? To gain true…

Mandated Salary Increases Considered in China

FORECAST: Looming clouds on the horizon in China with definite signs of wet weather, and not even the remotest connection to the presence of bears.

This is self-inflicted rain.

The Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security is apparently working on a new law that encourages employers to pay higher salaries. It has not been announced as specifically mandatory, with compulsion for employers, but the fact of it’s consideration is problematic, to say the…

It's just lovely weather outside!

Ugh. It's only 5pm and it's super dark and gloomy. That is the down

side to sitting so close to windows and the door. I think if it wasn't

for my heater I'd freeze to death from the draft that comes in every

time someone opens the door facing my cube.

Recruiting is slowly picking back up. My brain has somewhat defrosted and I'm filling my pipeline.

So onto more interesting stuff. I'm actually looking for a room right now.

Last night I drove to this place in… Continue

Candidates want to make them laugh

I’m not sure of the actual number of times, but in the recent past (6 months or so) it seems that this (“I made them laugh”) is a typical response from my candidates when I ask them how they think they did on the interview.

Sure this could be a good (but isn’t necessarily)…

Don't Forget The Past

Here’s a quick tip for Recruiters.

If your search for top talent includes any of the many Job Boards there’s an easy way you can find some excellent candidates.

You’d be…
