As a part-time blogger I was intrigued by a recent article in the Business Journal about the death of the corporate blog. It seems that many of the blogs started by high-level executives have grown more dormant than the planning committee for Rudy Guliani’s inaugural ball.
Can anyone be at all surprised? I hope not. Even a short stint into the corporate world makes you realize that many companies are far too eager to find a panacea for all of their ails.
Do you hunt, implement or influence? Your personality type can define your character, what you will achieve and how you perform in the business world. Matthew Baysfield from Tree has defined nine different personality types - can you identify which of these apply to you?
1. The High-flyer. You're at your best on the move, juggling several tasks and deftly changing plans when you need to. Freedom and flexibility suit you more than… Continue

10 traits to look for when you're hiring a programmer
By Justin James
Programmers come with a wide range of skill sets, hail from many countries and cultures, and can have differing backgrounds and experiences. Nevertheless, certain qualities can mean the difference between a great programmer and someone who’s not so great. Here are 10 things to look for when hiring a programmer.

We both agreed that having a daily plan is crucial, as is having set productivity… Continue
Jobster, the much-hyped and heavily funded online-recruitment-meets-social-networking service, is out looking for more money, after burning through most of the $48 million it has raised since 2005. Founder and CEO Jason Goldberg left the company late last year, and has started a new social news site. Jobster, under new management, is now looking to raise more…
“And you are….? And you are here because…? And you are looking for…?...”
Many years ago there was a funny skit on Saturday Night Live about an absolutely clueless - and very obnoxious, receptionist who did not recognize very recognizable celebrity characters when they arrived at his desk. The receptionist would ask multiple questions like the ones above. The skit would go on and on with the questions and answers becoming more and more ridiculous.
So you think you are a sales executive? Let’s qualify you as a candidate:
1. Do you love to cold call?
2. Do you understand how to develop relationships with your recruiters?
3. Do you understand how to develop relationships inside large companies once you have them as a client?
4. Are you familiar with all the procedural processes and paper work of your clients?
5. Do you regularly attend trade fairs?
6. Are you an active networker?
7. Do you reside on… Continue

Ok, I have grown rather fond of meebo and the meebome widget. I found that I can embed the meebome widget in comments, up obviously it disappears after people leave comments for me. I tried seeing if there is a gadget, but no one has create one yet. Does anyone know of a way to have the widget permanently placed on my page? I have placed the widget in my comment section, so that you can see what it is, and if I am on, you can IM me :)
