Purple Squirrels and Paranoia: the first SourceCon challenge of 2008 and how I won it.
What a trip, I won the SourceCon challenge. The reasons I did are a mix of luck, timing, help from friends, inspiration, well placed breaks, spying on what the other contestants were doing, some slight misdirection, and some skill. I used to have a regional manager (when I used to work for that big, international, public monstrosity of a recruiting firm) that would make my recruiters cry every time he visited my office. We fought constantly over his approach to "managing" MY team.
