Hello,
I am considering subscribing to Talent Hook and wonder if any of you would share your experiences with me who have used, or currently use, this tool. Have you found it valuable on an ongoing basis? Any gripes or problems? Is their customer service as good and as accessible as they claim? Are there other similar tools out there that you feel are better or comparable?
Thank you for your input!

While honesty is indeed the best policy, too many prospective employees tend to stretch the truth-- or not use the truth at all-- when they are making their resumes. If you are an employer, it can be beneficial for you to know about the most common lies you may find on a resume. If you are in the position of looking for a job, it is in everyone's best interest if you are factual and honest.
No one wants to hire someone who lacks the integrity to be… Continue

If I may play 'Mr. Marketing Devil's Advocate' for a moment, let me interject one of the new rules of marketing that exist within today's intersection of a globalizing economy and the viral expansion of social media:
***Drop any opt-out marketing efforts like a bad habit.***
Opt out = spam. In the words of my friend, Seth Godin, "
Opt-out takes advantage of laziness, inertia, and infoglut to inundate people with stuff they don't want." There are more…

It used to be that summer jobs were within reach of all willing and able job seekers, most of whom were students looking for a steady gig to earn gas money or fuel the old college fund.
But as we tumble through an economic downturn that has the whispers of “recession” growing loud enough to draw the ire of even the most laid back librarian, that’s all changed.
In fact, according to a recent SnagAJob.com survey, nearly half (49%) of traditional hourly hiring standbys,…

Tutorial Tuesday
Teach something, learn something...
There are numerous clues to candidates being untruthful, some obvious, others far more subtle and difficult to detect. Perhaps the most subtle signs of deception are microexpressions.
Here Prof. Paul Eckman gives us a quick example of a microexpression. The next link takes you to series of clips where microexpressions are pointed out as indicators of deception. The last link will take you to a test where you can…

In November of this year, I will be going on an aid trip to Mamelodi, South Africa with
Crossroads Community Church, a Cincinnati-based non-denominational Christian church, to build homes, teach kids and transfer sustainable skills. The church has made this journey for the past 2 years to aid the people of Mamelodi, which is an urban area outside of the capital city of Pretoria. I am looking to build networks with both Sourcing Professionals and Senior HR Professionals. I am an owner within an expanding HR and People Resourcing Company.
We manage the internal recruitment centres for some of the largest blue chip resources companies, and I am always looking to build pools of talent from which to source from. I find the most effective way to do this is through non-traditional and non-intrusive methods such as this.
Our HR Talent Pool currently…

We introduced a very simple program and gave folks a one-week grace period to get with it. On Monday mornings, our HR folks check for timesheet compliance. If someone missed a day or a few hours here or there, a friendly reminder is sent to the person to correct the oversight. However, if he misses more than a day, or it is just quite obvious he didn't bother to fill out anything, he is invited to sing, "I'm a little teapot" at our next weekly staff meeting. We record the stunning… Continue
