Recruiting Marathon

Sometimes I use Analogies to give me insight, motivation and ideas. I know sales people and recruiters use them everyday, "you have to go the distance", "let's hit one out of the park" etc. One of my favorite Sports analogies for recruiting is "Recruiting is a Marathon, and not a sprint". Running a marathon takes preparation, training, mental and physical focus, support from… Continue

How Should You Interview Sales Professionals?

I’m often asked, “What’s the best way to interview Sales Professionals?”

Let’s face it, these are some of the most difficult people to interview and assess because they’re good at selling themselves and they do so on a daily basis.

As Jim Durbin points out, “so anyone who has ever held a…

The end of sourcing/recruiting?

Open Question to sourcers & recruiters: What happens to our industry once we have “full market” involvement with Social Networks?

Writing the perfect query

I’ve been reading a bit about how the effectiveness of a search is measured and have thinking how we can apply it to our sourcing/internet research efforts. I kept coming across several terms which you all may have heard of, terms like precision, recall, and fall-out, which are the most common measurements of search effectiveness. After reading extensively on the subject all I got was a headache. : )

Here is what I took from this migraine generating study. As best as…
