Taking on a more proactive recruitment process means engaging with folks long before a position comes open by building a pipeline of qualified talent that is ready to be put into place as soon as a position is available. For many companies the challenge is time. There are so many active openings that there isn’t enough time to pipeline for future ones. Another challenge is resources. Who should…

To say that I think a lot about recruiting and hiring is an understatement. Before I co-founded a technology company that builds
recruiting software, my business partner and I, started and ran a couple of recruiting firms, an RPO and over the years managed dozens of corporate recruiting departments. In addition to helping countless other organizations hire, we’ve had to build quite a few of our own teams over the…

Take time, think them through, be honest, and your job search may improve dramatically!
1. What makes me unique? Companies are seeing dozens or hundreds of resumes for each opening. They interview several people as well. It doesn’t…

this page which looks like a…

For a college student, entering a College Career Fair venue is like walking into a cafeteria. Both facilities are crammed with decisions, persuasion and the uncertainty of what to choose or where to turn next. Sure, students have to do some impressing, but at College Career Fairs, companies are the ones who possess the task of attracting top talent. Students and representatives from companies both play eminent roles in the career fair game. Students have to take off their sweats, conjure up a…

There are a lot of discussions going on across the internet concerning change as well as the new technologies taking place that can assist recruiters in various ways. Some people consider the internet a fad, one that will go out with the typewriter once the next major technology comes around the corner. That may be true, but it is important to utilize the trends of your current time.
While taking the time…

A year ago, I launched InternetRecruiting.us as a job board directory and invited job boards to join and post news. It was an interesting experiment but didn't really move me. So, I'm remaking the website with a new purpose and a new domain. So
onlinerecruitingnews.com will be a coop of 50 dues paying job boards who want to increase their visibility. Whether or not you want to become a coop member, you'll still be welcome to…

The same old job boards don't work (including spiders). We need to have a website with a new methodology to be able to connect candidates with job openings with more selectivity. Instead of hiring managers receiving hundreds of resumes (most don't qualify) - they would receive ONLY the qualified ones (a much smaller quantity).

As I was sorting through the usual spate of ‘job boards are dead’ articles, I noticed other more interesting types of articles: pieces that point to job board postings as indicators of the state of the economy. (Monster has published their
Employment Index since 2004.)
Makes sense, doesn’t it? If job boards are posting more…
