The Atlanta Recruiting RoadShow is Sold Out

Congrats to Amitai Givertz and John Sumser for generating enough buzz to sell out the Atlanta RoadShow. That is great news and it validates that there is a need for this.

Are Recruiting Fees Going Down?

I remember about 2 years ago I had my first conversation with Harry Joiner. Since then we have always enjoyed our weekly calls about domain names and recruiting. This week we each bought a new one but that is another post.

Getting back to our first conversation, Harry told me that he was convinced that agency fees were going to go down because he could not see how… Continue

Bad candidate clichés

In my twenty years of recruiting I’ve heard many clichés about the hiring process concerning candidates’ fears, but over that time most have either been dispelled or just fallen out of favor. However, two of the oldie but goodies were repeated to me the other day and I was simply amazed at the logic of the candidate.

The classics were “You have to get it (money) coming in or you’ll never get it” and “You can’t get a promotion for two years”. Now as we all know of…

Ever have one of those days?

Today was a good day. Today was one of those days that energizes
someone like me. Today was a day full of really good candidates, a
glowing reference for someone we’d really like to hire, and an overall
renewal of my faith in Generation Y.

Poor Employment Site Usability – What’s it Costing You?

The goal of a corporate career website is to attract qualified candidates as well as encourage them to submit their resume to a job of interest. Unfortunately today’s corporate career websites and their applicant tracking systems lack website usability elements that make it difficult to achieve this goal.…

RecruitingBlogs.com - A little layout change for a while

I am messing around with the layout of RecruitingBlogs.com

Ning has now limited the amount of things you can now have on the main

page. I have no issue with it. At first I did but now it seems I need

to take another look at what is on the main page and make some

decisions. Right now, I can't really add any more boxes so things are

going to change a little.

In the meantime, there are lots of pixels you can get for free and they

will last for 3 days. It's… Continue

Remembering Work, Life, Love Balance

I want apologize for being slow to post the past few weeks, my father had back surgery today. No matter how much I love to share my passion for my chosen career, it doesn’t compare to the love I have for my family and they will always come first, no matter what.

Not only was this the first time in my 36 years that I had to see…

Where's the Science in HR?

Yesterday, I read an article from Workforce Management on the correlation, or lack there of, between HR and the popular television show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation around failures and successes within various organizations. All this talk of forensic science reminded me of a speaking engagement I attended with Jim Stroud last year on Resume Forensics. The audience was quite taken aback with Jim's insight…

The Million Dollar Wiki - Was Only a Matter Of Time

It's The Million Dollar Wiki and yes you can also buy a blogger. I learned about this from a real good domain name blog called the Conceptualist. He says you should avoid the hype but he figures the guy has made 50k or so.

I think this is something that we will see more and more of in the next year or so. There is absolutely… Continue

Latest Activity Function On RecruitingBlogs.com

Over the weekend, Ning launched a few other functions for the networks they power. One of these new functions is a "latest activity" feed. You can see everything that is going on now on RecruitingBlogs.com quickly. I have put this on the right hand side of the site and it will also appear on every profile page above the Live Recruiting Blogosphere Feeds. If it dives you crazy, let me know
