I'm frustrated. Should I expand? It could go for a while? Alright, I'll try to keep it straight.
That said I also have had a ground breaking revelation which should change the lives of all those that will read this.
OK let's start with my frustration. I'll start this by saying I am a pretty positive person, however of late, I've learned the path of the cynic and am starting to appreciate their journey! I digress, sorry. We've been doing renovations on our house of late.…

Oops! Bit behind with my blog posts in 2010, sorry! I’ve lots of great excuses for this of course, but I won’t bore you with them!
So my main day job is recruiting quantity surveyors, but at the moment I’m also working with some final year business school students at a university on the outskirts of London. It’s a pilot scheme on employability which I’ll tell you about it in more detail some other time, but over the last couple of months I’ve been spending two days a week meeting…

I’m not a tree hugger, well I am, but not in the ‘protest and chain myself to a bark for the day’ type of tree hugger. However I do believe in karma of sorts. Allow me to take recruitment down the spiritual path for a sentence or two.
So we are all connected, from the small ant to the great white. Indeed someone told me once that if it weren’t for ants, the human race would not exist (something about the biological ecosystem community, I have no idea, and haven’t got round to…

I know what you are thinking: mom told me that bragging is a bad thing. I agree that in many situations bragging is not a trait that you want to be associated with. In fact, word association may yield terms such as arrogant, audacious and egotistical.
However, I’d like to a make the claim that while in job search mode, if going about it in the right way, “bragging” might just be the key differentiator between getting the offer and coming in second place. We all know what second…

What Does The Film "AVATAR" Have To Do With HR? [
Posted by: Margo Rose on Jan 17, 2010
Today I saw the movie “AVATAR.” Seeing the 3D IMAX film was indescribably vivid! Images leap off the screen, jump on your lap, and stare into your eyes. If I were in my office, and my colleagues were IMAX images, I’d say they are invading my personal space. I could develop an entire instructional design for diversity, and sensitivity training on this topic alone. As I watched the film,…

Please forgive me for being technically challenged, kind of laid-back and keeping it simple with pen and paper: I really haven't been hip with the whole online networking buzz that started with myspace, so I never had an account with them or facebook. But when a business colleague told me about his contacts through LinkedIn, I thought, perhaps now's the time...it's a new year, I should really get current!
I'd been interested in the recruiting field since early 2008, I just got my…

It's funny to think that nowadays we can rent a little space in a virtual world and plant a stake in the ground and call it our own. Some people will come by for a visit to take a look around and others set up camp right beside you. I'm going to be setting up shop in order to make friends and create a space where people can drop by to read and chat about staffing, technology and well...staffing technology.

Currently most of my time is spent in the world of…

Are there really new rules to the job hunt? If you answered NO then you must not be using social media. The days are gone when simply posting your resume on Monster, e-mailing former colleagues, and surfing company websites for possible openings is enough. These days, if you are truly serious about being hired, you really need to put your iPhone and computer to work. That means getting the word out on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, sending instant job-search updates via…

People tend to look at me with disbelief when I tell them that if it weren’t for Twitter, and more specifically the advent of social media, I would never have garnered a career in the field that I am interested in as soon as I graduated from college.
I began accessing Twitter through an iPhone application that locates other users in close proximity to you and shows you their tweets. This was important because it allowed me to connect with people in the area and discuss relevant topics.…

I am a huge advocate or being different and being a leader rather than reacting to what everyone else is doing. So when I see articles like this (click here, it’s worth it. I promise!)
http://www.hotelinteractive.com/article.aspx?articleid=15860 about major companies being creative and cutting edge I get really excited!

I keep hearing mixed forecasts as far as the economy is concerned for 2010 and prospects for the job market and professionals who work within it.
There has certainly been some over bullish predictions by some in the recruitment sector, some by those who should actually know better. I take the view that things have perhaps begun to bottom out a little, but there is still sufficient uncertainty across a number of industries and sectors that will dampen down anything that resembles a…

Compassionate HR: What’s Your Company Doing To Improve The Community
written by Margo Rose
Monday, January 11th, I took my maiden voyage into the world of blogtalkradio show Compassionate HR My co-host Shenee Rutt ,and I wanted to start a show that featured HR Pros who were going beyond the call of duty to be stewards in their community. The idea for this show was inspired from a conversation that I had with Karla Porter and Paul Paris. It’s something I really wanted to do, and…

For me, social networking is part of my job. Its a portion of how I brand our business. Its a way to cultivate relationships with partners, clients and influencers. Its how I keep up to date on what other vendors are doing.
It’s also been instrumental in my conversion of my blog from ERE to ImSoCorporate.com this fall. It has been through RT’s on twitter and networkedblogs.com on facebook – that I have met some really smart, interesting people.
On the flip side, if you…

I was pondering on the great business book, "The Discipline of Market Leaders" written by Michael Tracey & Fred Wiersema. The authors in their research work came out with three disciplines that exist for successful companies in the world:
1. Operational excellence
2. Product leadership
3. Customer intimacy
and I had to ask myself this question - "Where does recruiting fall into?" Any suggestion from any one?

I have over 30 positions that I need to fill with experienced recruiters! Combined experience of in house and agency recruiting is highly preferred. Who do you know that would be a fit for these opportunities located in the Bay Area of CA? The market is still soft so let's get together and help these Recruiters find opportunities that will in the end help you or others find opportunities. You can contact me directly at 408-367-6819 or email me at dmoua@aerotek.com. for more information!
