"Before, so many of us were living a good life here...Now we cannot pay our loans. We are all just sleeping, smoking, drinking coffee and having headaches because of the situation."
To make matters worse, a "new draft media law [in Dubai] would make it a crime to damage the country’s reputation or economy, punishable by fines of up to 1 million dirhams (about $272,000). Some say it is already having a chilling effect on reporting about the crisis."
Bake--To cook, either covered or uncovered, in an oven.
Baste--To keep foods moist during cooking by pouring a liquid over them; you can use the meat drippings, melted fat, or any other liquid.
Beat--To make a mixture creamy, smooth, or filled with air by whipping it in a brisk motion.
Blanch--To precook a food briefly in boiling liquid, usually to loosen the skin; for example, you can drop tomatoes in boiling liquid for less than a minute, and the skin comes off… Continue

Hi group, I'm new here. I've been in mid-level retained recruiting for quite a while (I helped start JobPlex.com back in the late 90s). Like a lot of folks in our industry, even with great clients, I'm experiencing a slow period. My question is, is it possible to market solid candidates I worked with for retained searches that didn't get offers? About half are still employed and half are between jobs. It's tough listening to their stories. So has anybody here had any luck taking great… Continue
Despite the massive layoffs across the board in technology from Big Blue to small-fry tech companies, there appears to be a streak of confidence among the masses. People in technology – engineers, software developers, IT, sales and marketing – seem to be a bit stronger through this crisis than in the past. Some of this may have to do with the bubble bursting on many of us in the dot com era. Or, it may have to do with the hope a new administration promises. More likely, much of it has to do… Continue

While on Facebook I noticed an ad to the Left hand side which connected to a recent graduate from University of South Florida with a Masters degree in Engineering Management. I clicked on the ad which took me to the following resume http://www.leonardoborrero.com/
Which also included links to his Linked In Profile.
I am not currently recruiting for engineering roles but I contacted him. He said that he is getting responses and… Continue

I initially had some junior recruiters work some search assignments on this site and in my opinion this site was strictly being used to build up a company's resume database. Seriously, is there any reason why any company would "engage" over thirty recruiters if they were operating in good faith. Secondly, all the feedback I have gotten from recruiters has been negative.
However, there are two sides to this equation - if a company engages your firm I believe you have every right to… Continue
One of the biggest criticisms of social media is a lack of results. Sure, we know that sites like recruitingblogs.com bring us value, but naysayers want to know how many hires we've made for the time spent.
It's not always easy to get those numbers. It can be hard to track, and when you do track them, you don't necessarily want to pass that number on to competitors. Luckily, Rehabcare was open to me talking about their success.
Very excited to be a part of this rocking event in Appomattox, Virginia coming up on March 7th.

Giles Guest of Enhance Media nicely teed up a Long Tail framework for thinking about recruitment. Here are some of my quick thoughts on how they might apply specifically to the recruitment advertising market. The Long Tail can be a problematic framework for setting corporate strategy but it provides a useful heuristic for… Continue
I’ve made placements with a small company for years that didn’t have an HR function. Mid-last year they were bought by a much larger company with a recruiting department, and the rules for third party recruiters are changing. They’ve asked me to sign a new agreement that basically says before any candidate can be presented to a manager the resume must be submitted to a central HR administrator who will verify they aren’t already in the company ATS. We have no direct…Continue

On a Saturday mornin' ,when i was returning home from a party ( i was kinda wasted ),i 've got the weirdest idea! That is : i tought that we can make Seinfeld return for a new season!!!! And that that was possible due to our common effort--paying for whatever they need to do the season. But is hard if not impossible to find a way that everybody can contribute with some amount of money ( e.g. 2 $ or 40 cents or 5 cents ), the amount is not that important because we are so many fans around the… Continue
I need to make a presentation to a gatekeeper. In turn, the gatekeeper will be speaking with the decision-maker regarding the venture’s merits. I would like to create a PowerPoint presentation that allows for an audio voiceover. This would make me more confident that the proper message gets to the decision-maker.
Does anyone know of a software solution that can help me accomplish this?
Thanks!
Mike

Even when you have been around as long as ExecuNet has (21 years and counting) and over that time have gotten more than your fair share of kudos for whatever, it still makes you feel good when they keep coming. If nothing else, it reminds the organization that consistency is critical.
I am happy to say that we were reminded of this yet once again when we got notice that we were once again a WEDDLE's User's Choice winner. What WEDDLE's does is to post a ballot of 114 sites (not… Continue

So I've been finding lately that our electronic ATS is both a blessing and a curse.
Coming from the non-profit world where we only dealt with paper resumes and drop file folders, an on-line, web-based ATS was a god send. However, I've been noticing that when discussing the application process with potential applicants face-to-face, I am not seeing as many people take the necessary steps to submit their applications.
At any given event, I'll speak to, let's say 100 people; of… Continue
