Travel Occupational Therapy Jobs

The therapy industry is booming, and for the next 10 years, the outlook is high. This means that while other fields may be slowing down and disappearing due to a down turned market, therapy jobs will be safe from the turmoil of unemployment. Travel Occupational Therapy Jobs provide stability and a substantial paycheck that some other fields can’t boast. It’s easy to get lost in the many facilities currently seeking qualified OTs, and it’s easy to grab a job nearby that seems…

Why I Blog

Most bloggers like to sprinkle accomplishments on top of their meaty posts with the hope you will swallow the portions they are feeding. I have no accomplishments that will add flavor to my blogs. Some will suck regardless.

I do however have a love for my wife, watching my kids laugh uncontrollably, coaching football, and working as an HR pro.

The blog was conceived through my expertise in day dreaming. I was at an HR convention, one of them events where you go to “learn” and end up…

Hiring a college girl to make cold calls

Hi all!

I'm a new member here.

I own a healthcare staffing firm in NY. I currently make tons of cold calls which I do not enjoy so much and now considering hiring someone with no experience to make the cold calls for me while I could go around and prospect to healthcare facilities. Any input on the idea and on how to get a young decent (college) girl for twice a week or so ??

Thanks.

Answers to Critical Obamacare Questions for Staffing Firms

The good news for staffing firms regarding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), or Obamacare, is that it has the potential to push more companies toward contract staffing. Under the employer mandate, companies with 50 or more employees will have to provide healthcare insurance to them in 2014. By utilizing contractors who are the employees of a back-office or a staffing firm, smaller companies can keep from going over the 50-employee threshold.

But…

The Pareto Activity of Recruiting

The Clock and the Compass by Jon Bartos

We have all heard of the 80/20 rule.   Vilfredo Pareto, an Italian economist developed this principle in 1906 based on the fact that 20% of people owned 80% of the land.  He also noticed that 20% of the pea pods in his garden contained 80% of the peas.  Thus the rule of…

Recruiting Significance - Bridging from Success to Significance

The Clock and the Compass by Jon Bartos

Mark my words, 2013 will be a banner year for many in the Executive Search and Staffing industry.  Yes, there are rumors that the first quarter could be slower than expected, much like the fourth quarter of 2012.  So why am I so bullish on 2013?

Opportunity!  There are…

The Journey to Significance

The Road Less Traveled by Jon Bartos

2013 is going to prove to be a banner year for many of us.  Even though we have all heard some studies claiming that the economy is still a little sluggish and individuals and companies are not spending money while bank accounts get bigger and bigger, I…

Scott’s Sales Yoga Thought for the Day

The longer you talk, the more people tune out.  Replace pitches (one-way communication) with Provocative Launching Questions (two-way communication) if you want to engage people and capture and keep their interest.

RFP Writers: Still some of the toughest roles to fill

I have been recruiting into Asset Management for nearly 9 years now, I have seen good times, bad times, average times and some down right terrible times but one thing is always constant. There just aren’t enough experienced RFP Writers out there.

RFP writing in the past, at some organisations was seen as a “copy and paste” job. It was an area that people seemed reluctant to get into or work in.…

Taking time to think. Working on your business, as well as in your business

We all know that it is important to spend time thinking about our businesses. You need to work on your business, as well as in your business, we are told.

This is not just good advice, it is vital advice.

But, I don’t have time

The problem is that we don’t have the time, or we don’t make the time. We are busy, we…

HR nowadays is an organizational "warm and fuzzy" atmosphere. No need for business acumen.

For the past two months there has been a running discussion in the Linked:HR group on LinkedIn regarding why more HR professionals do not have a degree or background in Business. It has been a lively discussion to say the least. However we were struck by one of the latest responses in which the member stated "HR nowadays is an organizational "warm and fuzzy" atmosphere. No need for business acumen."

John Donne in his famous poem stated that

No man is an…

Wait

I have always been a fan of music.  I love all kinds.  I appreciate artists and their uniqueness.  I guess I have always been that way.  I can listen to Waylon Jennings "Ramblin' Man" one minute, "Kashmir" by Led Zepplin another, and then find myself dialed into XM Radio listening to The Highway all day long.

I was a music fanatic growing up.  Listening to…

People don’t leave companies. They leave leaders!

I have employed thousands of people over the years. And every time one resigned, a little part of me died. (OK, I lie. I have actually danced a celebratory jig around my desk on the odd occasion, but that’s another blog!)

Mostly, my natural reaction has always been a human one I suppose. “What possible reason would they have to do that?” or “What’s wrong with them?” or even, “She must be leaving for money. The fool!”

But I grew wiser as the years rolled by.

Mostly,…

In the current employment environment, you likely won't have to tell many client companies what contractors can do for them. They already get it. They want the flexibility and cost savings that contract staffing offers and are actively pursuing contractors.

But there are still a few employers out there that don't understand why they should use contractors and often question the cost. With these clients, recruiter Mario Fidanzi of MedTeam Staffing says recruiters…
