Recruiter Uses Video - Wins!

Recruiting professionals realize that the unemployment challenge continues to plague our great nation and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon.  Therefore, now more than ever it is imperative that you work smart and use technology to increase your odds for success.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results. Why do many recruiters continue to operate status quo when there are technologies that will enable you to…

Challenging the Orthodox: #1 Cost per Hire, Time to Hire

'Cost per hire, time to hire' is the modern mantra of the recruitment

industry. But like many mantras, the phrase continues to be chanted by rote long

after the real significance of the words has been lost. We are told that

securing and retaining top talent is a strategic goal for all

companies. Significant sums are now being spent on developing employer brands,

and there is a recognition that recruitment is no longer entirely the

Are we in danger of losing our moral compass? Are we living in an overdraft mentality?

Yet again this morning the headlines in the news revolved around the slow and sluggish economy and why we as citizens should look after our elderly counterparts and how many under 14 year old children would sacrifice their pocket money and entertainment time if their parents/guardians would give up smoking! It’s as if the media is requesting us to check our moral compass. Now not only are the powers that be asking that we start being prudent and put in as opposed to take…

Gratefulness & Thanksgiving - Two Traits That Make for A Great Career

As we come into the end of a very interesting year, with ups and downs, ins, outs and everything in between, it has been enjoying the journey that has been one very important lesson of 2011.  In a unique year where I saw folks come and go in my life, as well folks go on separate paths as they explored career options, new family additions, and life's fundamental changes, it…

Reports of Recruiting’s Death Are Greatly Exaggerated

There is so much noise out there regarding the death of recruiting. We’ve got Social Media taking over. Recruitment 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4! LinkedIn will have all our jobs, but only until Facebook becomes the new job board. Thanks to Google +, any hiring manager with a computer can now search for candidates. Not only does this mean the end of recruiting agencies as we know them, but it’s only a matter of time before corporate recruiters start singing Danny Boy.

Give me a…

Three Steps to a New and More Effective Interview

http://resources.dice.com/report/effective-interviews/

Off-the-wall interview questions, lengthy printed job descriptions and rounds of repetitive interviews are a very 1989 — or even 2003 — way of recruiting. Gerry Crispin, Principal of CareerXroads, says it’s high time for a change. “For many years we’ve had a pretty bad approach in general to recruiting and we continue to have a bad… Continue

Halloween & Recruiting: Learning from your 10 year old self!

When I was growing up, there was not a holiday that I looked forward to more than Halloween.  Not only did I love thinking up a great costume and getting free candy but I always really enjoyed the Halloween route planning sessions the night before.

Every Halloween I’d go to one of my friends places (as they had a better neighborhood) and we’d map out the houses and areas we would hit up during the night.  After years of experience, we knew the houses that gave the “good”…
