Inspired by Joel Cheesman's
post about ERE and RecruitingBlogs.com
It's apples and oranges. They are not the same. They don't function the same. the expectations for everyone involved are not the same. They are two very different brands and brands evoke feeling. The feeling between the two is different.
I'm not surprised that ERE is launching a Ning network for the Fordyce Letter. The thing about Ning and the…

Wow - when I see business professionals telling the truth, it's like a breath of fresh air. Wouldn't you agree? So I was reading through my typical morning run of blogs and forums to keep abreast of best practices in the recruiting world, and I see the following comment from
Mike Johnson of Avature (Global Director of Business Development):
"
In all honesty, the Internet is filled with information on names and people… Continue

Please contact me if your firm specializes in Stellent, Vignette, Documentum, and/or Interwoven technical consultants to add to our projects as needed. At this point, I am not interested in talking to vendors with an off shore model. Once again, I am looking for technology focused boutique firms in the Midwest or West Coast. I look forward to hearing from you.

Domain names are cheap. Websites are pretty easy to develop. There's a proliferation of sites in the social & professional networking scene that allow fairly lengthy profiles to be built. Recruiters are using all of these media to dig deeper into our candidates lives already. We all know this stuff. The question is, when do you think document that we know now will replaced as the "king of resumes"? I don't think they'll ever completely go away, but there is a time in the not so distant…

My six year old son has actually been known to yell at the clock at bedtime as if that damn clock is the culprit that is making him go to bed at 8:00 pm. “Nooooo! It can’t be 8:00 yet! I still need to ride my bike some more!!!”
Like him, I’d love an extra few hours in the evening to spend as I like. The sad news is, I’d probably spend it watching Jackie Warner and the gang on Work Out for that time instead of doing something productive like learning a new language or practicing the…

Finding out what lights your candidate up and what they need to do to land and keep that right role is a…

Hey, look! I’m being watched in Ireland! (My videos, anyway.)
Paul Mullen, a career coach in Ireland, has highlighted my online videos as offering excellent advice (I have to agree…). Turns out, Paul offers some excellent advice, himself. His Measureability website offers psychometric testing (ability and personality assessments) and career coaching. It includes a career blog, with a post I like on Reasons for Interview Failure. He also has a Careers and Jobs blog focused on jobs in…

Jackson says "OMG!"
But what is he really saying? Translation please!
I will be the first to admit that Social Media is pretty hip and cool, far hipper and cooler than I could ever hope to be. When I was growing up we never communicated via "text messages" or "tweets" or IM's. Nobody had cell phones.
Xbox wasn't even invented yet. State of the art technology was ourAtari which we played games like "Pong" and "Asteroid" on.…

My name is Patrick Antos. I am currently working as a Recruiting Manager for an Insurance Brokerage firm that is planning to close its doors in the next two months. I have been applying as much as I can for different positions, getting an interview, and being the guy on the outside looking in. If anyone could be of help in the Cleveland area to get me in with someone quickly, that would be great.
