WirelessJobs.com ~ it's a community, really

Change is afoot at WirelessJobs.com. Inspired, nonetheless, by the spirit of community that I really admire here at RecruitingBlogs.com.

Yep, after four years of blogging about wireless jobs, it's time for something different. Actually, it's time for something I've been wanting to do all along.

I've had a desire to create a real community that's focused on job-search within the… Continue

Notable Quotable

Looking out my window this morning here in East Aurora, NY (and wondering when Spring will officially arrive!) a particular quote comes to mind:

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ”

Charles L. Allen

Seemed apprpriate for not only the current weather and climate, but also for those of us in Sales and Recruiting.

Where's the beef?

Prime beef that is! What I mean by prime beef is those individuals whose talents and skills exceed the average person in the market, and quite frankly companies are finding them in short supply. Not because they don’t exist, but because a lot of companies aren’t prepared to pay the higher price for the level of talent they desire, and as we all know in a supply and demand world if you can’t pay the market price for the goods then you need to look at different goods. Can you say Grade… Continue

The Chicken or the Egg - the recruiters dilemma!

In a business world where communication is key, via websites, blogs, newletters, RSS feeds etc, recruiters are now more accountable than ever - not just to the companies that they provide a service for but also for candidates that they are interacting with every day. I therefore have a a nice question for all you recruiters out there that will get you thinking........ "Do you know who your clients are?"

In a sweepingly broad statement, recruitment organisations sit in two… Continue

Job Site Traffic Synopsis: Super Bowl

During my time at Monster I was able to actually see the results of our Super Bowl ad traffic, whether it was good or not so good. But I've always wondered how much Super Bowl commercials really impacted other job board's traffic. Moreover what other initiatives they utilize to maintain the growing need for more job seeker eyeballs after the… Continue

Uncle Sam wants more Chad

Uncle Sam, once again, is not happy with our current one weekend a month (Army reserve status) arrangement so he's called me back into the active Army for a period of 1 year... or whenever he feels like sending me home.

I started my Army career on active duty back in '89, went into the Army reserves in '93 and am now inching ever so slowly to my 20 year mark. I'll be stateside (Fort Benning,… Continue

Help me with some advice?

I'm an out of work pastor with lots of administrative and management experience. I suppose I should more precisely say that I'm an entrepreneur starting something new and paying the bills is still important. Which means I need steady income from a real job. Nearly all of my work experience is in the non-profit world. Back in the day, I did co-manage a McDonald's restaurant, worked in PR for the American Heart Association, and have done temp work on and off for years.

I sure would… Continue

Criminal Background Checks

I finally discovered a background check company called easybackgroundchecks that has reasonable packaging prices, is very easy to use, and has very good customer support.

The other beauty about this service is that they guarantee drug test results within 24 hours from the time the candidate left the lab facility. Most companies take 3 days to produce these results.

Passive Candidates- The Klondike Bar

Remember that jingle for the Klondike Bar? “Oh what would you do ooh ooh for a Klondike Bar?” I find myself asking the same question when it comes to finding to attracting passive candidates. I still feel the best lead is one that a colleague or business partner can give me. As long as you have a first and last name, there are so many avenues to find contact information for those candidates including LinkedIn and ZoomInfo. If you use Mozilla Firefox there is also another great way to do a… Continue

HR Crucial to Executive Compensation Process

The world of executive compensation has changed during the past few years. Never before has there been more attention paid to the finer details of compensation programs, and the roles of key players in the executive compensation process have changed dramatically.

In most companies, it is now the job of the board compensation committee to govern executive compensation - and for good reason. Board members have a fiduciary responsibility to manage not only the costs of the executive pay… Continue

2008 SourceCon Sourcing Challenge 1 update - The Fab 5

They are only 1/3 the way there but have the night to get a little further ahead. If you can find out who the 5 are, then they might be kind enough to give you all the clues

Harry told me he will be back same time same channel tomorrow

Good luck!
