Uncle Sam, once again, is not happy with our current one weekend a month
(Army reserve status) arrangement so he's called me back into the active Army for a period of 1 year... or whenever he feels like sending me home.
I started my Army career on active duty back in '89, went into the Army reserves in '93 and am now inching ever so slowly to my 20 year mark. I'll be stateside (

I'm an out of work pastor with lots of administrative and management experience. I suppose I should more precisely say that I'm an entrepreneur starting something new and paying the bills is still important. Which means I need steady income from a real job. Nearly all of my work experience is in the non-profit world. Back in the day, I did co-manage a McDonald's restaurant, worked in PR for the American Heart Association, and have done temp work on and off for years.
I sure would…

I finally discovered a background check company called easybackgroundchecks that has reasonable packaging prices, is very easy to use, and has very good customer support.
The other beauty about this service is that they guarantee drug test results within 24 hours from the time the candidate left the lab facility. Most companies take 3 days to produce these results.

In Sales (as in Recruiting) we must ALWAYS be ready to adapt to each unique individual and situation we’re working with.
Look for opportunities to be flexible on the fly!

Remember that jingle for the Klondike Bar? “Oh what would you do ooh ooh for a Klondike Bar?” I find myself asking the same question when it comes to finding to attracting passive candidates. I still feel the best lead is one that a colleague or business partner can give me. As long as you have a first and last name, there are so many avenues to find contact information for those candidates including LinkedIn and ZoomInfo. If you use Mozilla Firefox there is also another great way to do a…

The world of executive compensation has changed during the past few years. Never before has there been more attention paid to the finer details of compensation programs, and the roles of key players in the executive compensation process have changed dramatically.
In most companies, it is now the job of the board compensation committee to govern executive compensation - and for good reason. Board members have a fiduciary responsibility to manage not only the costs of the executive pay…

Harry was chatting with 5 people online 15 min ago who are luck enough to get an additional 24hour head start on the rest of the competition. They are only 1/3 the way there but have the night to get a little further ahead. If you can find out who the 5 are, then they might be kind enough to give you all the clues
Harry told me he will be back same time same channel tomorrow
Good luck!

It's been over two years since I've taken a job requisition or interviewed a candidate, but I've decided to jump back into recruiting with
socialmediaheadhunter, a blog that is designed to help me place social media candidates with companies.
I'm not abandoning
Durbin Media, SMH is rather an extension of my current services.
I can train staff in social media and provide…

There is often a silver lining to everything. You just need to look for it yourself.
The big news from last week was the negative report that employers slashed jobs nationwide to the tune of some 63,000 in February. In fact, this news was easily the lead story for much of the day Friday.
Well, here’s some news that’s equally important (and very relevant), but I’d be willing to guess that many people won’t see it unless they’re looking for it and you especially won’t find…

Funny Stories for Monday floating around.
Towards the end of a job interview, the recruiter asked a young engineer fresh out of an Ivy League school, "And what starting salary were you looking for?" The Engineer said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." The recruiter said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, a company matching retirement fund for 50 percent of your salary, and…

I had a personal emergency today and didn’t go online until almost 2 PM this afternoon. Lo and behold, there were over 200 linkedin invitations in my gmailbox! And the day isn’t over yet.
WOW! All thanks to Rock Star Recruiter Dave Mendoza, mover, shaker, kingmaker – or queenmaker, to be gender-exact. This phenomenon has nothing at all to do with me or my overnight popularity. Au contraire, it is a reflection of the leadership and strong sway of Dave…

Eliot Spitzer, the governor of NY, has just made headlines as an allegedly admitted customer of a prostitution ring. This is the guy who, as NY’s former Attorney General, prosecuted more than his share of sex workers.
This is my Letter to the Editor that
Chief Executive magazine published in June, 2005. It was in response to an editorial on Spitzer’s heavy-handed treatment of business.
Spitzer’s… Continue

I have a bit of time each day. 1:00-1:30 to be specific. Looking to listen to anyone talking everyday at that time about lead generation, preferably front/end.

I would like to invite some members of recruitingblogs to part of just a small handful of people who will be able to try the earliest version of social|median, a new product that I have been working on. social|median enables people to get highly personalized news inspired by people with similar interests.
This is early "dogfood" product so there will be some bugs and we are adding new features literally daily.
The ground rules for this dogfood trial are as…
