In today’s market place where you may work remotely on a virtual team and your boss may be hundreds if not thousands of miles away people are struggling with just how to resign professionally. OK some aren’t, but they’re the ones who will type “I QUIT” on a piece of paper with a 72 font size and sign their name. So we won’t listen to them since we’re trying to not burn any bridges and we would prefer to have people say good things about us after we’re long gone.
The…

I was in Chicago most of this week in training. Since a lot of the team was there we managed to get a picture on the last day (thanks Carrie for bringing your camera!).
After the picture, a guy yelled at me from across the parking lot, saying -
"Hey, it looks like you're making a Charlie's Angels…

"The solution is that we need to re-engineer the thinking of the
recruiters. In my experience many of them believe they have to always
be in control. This has had its' down side it alienates and infuriates
candidates, it drags out the recruitment process which adds costs and
it frustrates the company that is trying to fill a position. Why can't
we make positive changes to this… Continue

This is an
interesting post on the Ning Network Creators Page. It gives some insight into what is going on over there. (RecruitingBlogs.com runs on Ning for those of you who did not know this)

Ever since I met a few recruiters, I've looked at some of these e-mails with suspicion. Really? How easy is it? I'd love to know how recruiters feel about e-mails like these ... here are the opening graphs:
"It's simple. To get a job, the people looking to hire someone like you have to know you exist, be aware of your skills and know how to contact you. Well, maybe not so simple. Assuming you have a resume that effectively represents your skills and abilities, then the next logical…

I am about the only geek on this blog that raves about the gaming industry. But honestly, how can you ignore a 10 billion dollar industry that is expected to grow to 25 billion in the next five years. Companies are hard pressed to find people who can do the work. Plus, Game Conferences, like the
GDC, are shifting a lot of their focus from new game products to careers in gaming. And,Game Conferences are growing…

Quote for the Day: Thursday, July 26th
"Our education system is driving a massive wedge between the upper and lower classes in America, splitting the middle class between those willing to mortgage their futures to get into the right school district and those who either can’t afford, or think it is imprudent, to take that kind of risk. The fault line that is being created by a lack of corporate recruiting competence is leaving the poor completely behind. They can’t… Continue

Lately, I have been keeping the domain name info off the main page here and putting it in the
domain name group I set up but I figured this is too good to only share with the 13 people who are members of that group.
I just saw that Resume.com sold for $300k

"Job candidates are being matched with client employers using the Internet.
Five percent of recruiting firms have already joined the Internet, and the number is growing by an amazing 12% per month. Right now, over 500,000 jobs are listed on the Internet...it's easy to miss critical technology changes. These days, the penalty can be a shorter life for your company."…

So I was excited about SourceCon challenge #2, as it appears I was a close runner-up to Mike Notaro who won Challenge #1 and I was determined to find the answer to the second challenge.
9 AM PST Monday, July 16th, I was awaiting an e-mail with instructions, and nada, so at 9:05 AM I went to the website and lo and behold I was looking at a real…

There are so many problems that takes to convince a candidate for a contract position. Does anybody has some specific ideas to how to converse in these cases?

I have been up to my neck in employee performance reviews for the past two weeks, so needless to say, I am a little behind on all the gossip. But, I just came across the hullaballoo regarding Karen M and the ERE. All I can say is: "Seriously?" I mean, how does something get to that point? Aren't we all professionals? And adults? I am just sitting here with a blank stare on my face right now. Seriously?
