How efficient is Your Application Tracking System:

Application Tracking System (ATS) has successfully replaced a Business' filing cabinet (full of prospective candidate applications for jobs in your business) by having spread its wings all over the internet. The system brings in more applications and helps you sort them out in less time, with less of your effort put in and hence, less cost per hire considering you haven't hired a recruiter to run the job for you.

An ATS allows your business to post jobs on a job board; a career site of… Continue

Meanwhile success stories continue to emerge about people tweeting their way to their dream job or being discovered on their blog. Now of course this won't be everyone's experience, but there is a reason why this is becoming a growing phenomenon. These people have figured out that the people… Continue

Recruiters? Honest as the day is long!

I had a bad experience last week. A bad experience which quickly rebounded into a good one, I am happy to say.

It was Friday 6 pm. I was rushing to wrap up things at work. Last minute emails to complete. A call from our Director in China with a client issue. A Skype call from our Europe MD. And then my wife on the phone saying don’t forget to pick up the kids.

I race down the elevator to the under-building car park, juggling laptop, gym gear, mobile phone and security… Continue

Recruitment Strategy Development – Corporate Sourcing

RecruiterGuy has noticed over the years that the words “recruit” and” source” are sometimes used interchangeably. Sourcing is certainly part of the recruiting process, and you may be communicating with candidates during the sourcing process, but it is not “recruiting”. It is the candidate introduction step of the process.

For the purpose of Recruitment Strategy Development we will separate corporate sourcing from third party sourcing. This blog covers corporate sourcing. Depending on… Continue

Understanding team dynamics before hiring

While interviewing Mark Kurtz for a programming position, Debra Tobin, the head of HR had a smile on her face. Mark was a recent Stanford graduate with a long list of impressive projects, including working with Oracle on a special integration project with the Malaysian government. Two days after the interview, Mark received an offer… Continue

Direct Or Indirect, That Is The Question

This is going to be a post that will really be necessary to have a community discussion and feedback. I have had the experience to play in what I will refer to as the Direct Recruiting Marketing and the Indirect Recruiting Market.

Let me explain...Direct Recruiting is the action of calling a specific person with the intent to sell them on a job and get them interested in a particular position you are recruiting for.

Indirect Recruiting is the action of calling a… Continue

Top 10 Twitter Users That Are Also Members of My Church in Avilla, Indiana

I’m not quite sure where to begin. Sure – I’ve always dreamed of making one of these lists. Haven't we all? But I thought it would only come after a few more years of putting my time in. So I am shocked to say the least. Thank you everyone!

A recent poll was conducted at my church to see how many Twitter users we have in our congregation. This was not a completely scientific study (we all know that church and science don’t mix well anyway) but a rather informal conversation in the… Continue
