Happy 2nd Anniversary And 500th Post, MN Headhunter

As posted this afternoon on MN Headhunter:

Two years ago Monday, May 21st, I started this MN Headhunter blog. This post also hits a milestone of 500 posts.

Before getting into this I did not intentionally make this the 500th post.…

Elusive Mid Level Candidates

It seems to me that finding mid level candidates is becoming increasingly more difficult, especially for technology searches. I can still find senior level people... but that elusive 2 - 3 year person with SQL Server 2005 development skills or that extremely customer service oriented help desk analyst are no longer out there and just not reproducing to meet the current demand. I've tried all the local watering holes to no avail... so now I'm going blogging. Any suggestions?

Best in Class Recruiting = Best in Class Marketing

Before helping found Jobster in 2004, I spent several years in the Global Marketing Organization at Microsoft. My primary responsibility at the time was managing the systems and processes that enabled Microsoft marketing activities.

first post here...

I think this is one of many forums to keep connected. I also have to be more diligent on my "functional blog", www.formerscienceguy.com. I have been negligent over there.

I have found this year in the Canadian biotech recruiting world to be more indicative than ever to either grow my own company to include staff up here or form a larger "splits" or coalition of recruiters in the US biotech industry.

Obviously, my PhD in genetics is…

Harry " Give Me The Fordyce Letter" Joiner

Harry Joiner is an interesting guy. I talk to him at least once a week and he is a guy who understands how a blog can help his business. He is contacted regularly by people who want his opinion or want his services because they found him via his blog via goole.

He submitted a very interesting lesson he has learned as a recruiter. Here is a little from it:

"For example, imagine that I submit six highly-qualified candidates… Continue

People on the move

Employers have to take into consideration the requirement for flexible working hours that employees are increasingly demanding. This information is taken from a survey that Microsoft recently implemented among 1000 office workers. The generated results show that 73% of the surveyed regard the opportunity for self-determining their working time as essential…

just giving vaJoe.com some "link love"

I ran across a website that is posting jobs for free. I am not affiliated with them. I am just wanting to help them spread the word. They are posting our jobs and have made us a premier employer; all free. They are doing so for the next six months and then who knows. As a sourcer, I think we have to try all means and this is certainly worth a try. So far we are already seen some traffic.

In case anyone is interested the website is www.vajoe.com.…

Breaking the Job Ad code

Years ago, job advertisements were ways easier to decipher – their content was much simpler and it wasn’t hard to get the idea of what the suitable applicant should look like. Now, job seekers are challenged with a real jungle of different ad formats, content and sometimes incomprehensible means of expression. If you learn how to find your way through this…

1st RecruitingBlogs.com Contest

I was lucky again to have won the last ERE Foundation Charity poker

tournament. There will be more, don’t worry. Because of my victory, I was able

to secure through a not so lengthy negotiation a number of Fordyce Letter subscriptions.

I want to have a contest now to see if we can come up with some great

recruiting content for the next week. The winner of the contest will

win a… Continue

Three Steps and a Breather

I don't think I've taken a four day break from blogging since I started this gig in '04.

However, being on the road last week put me three steps behind, so I've enjoyed taking a breather to catch up.

So, I got my three steps* back and I'm ready to roll.

More T-Mo jobs comin' next week - stay tuned.
