Why do job seekers go to job boards? Ahem – to find a job.
I might add that’s why they network, Tweet, post profiles on LinkedIn, and troll through company career sites. They just want a job. Right?
Well, no. Not exactly. They want a lot more than a ‘job’. They in fact have an entire laundry list of desires:

Recruitment is a fantastic industry to be in! In general recruiters love dealing with a variety of people, juggling different needs from different candidate and different employers and matching candidates with employers (both from a job description perspective and also from a personality/environment perspective).
Many recruiters started as professionals in another field, whilst just as many came out of Uni with an HR or similar degree and decided helping people find their…

Her name is Holly. In all my years of recruiting she has been one of the (very) few who is somehow able to come up with a great candidate for any position – anywhere – any time. She’s been a partner for quite a while – and on our team full time since the beginning of last year.
I wanted to just take a minute and give her the recognition she deserves. Here is a quick rundown of what she’s been able to accomplish in just the past month or so. Note: This is by no means her…

I believe in Human Resources and corporate recruiters. They fill a necessary function at most companies. They insure that there are no duplicate submissions of résumés, they coordinate meetings, they screen to insure that candidates meet the standards of the job and the company. However, with respect, they should allow outside recruiters to deal directly with hiring managers when it comes to job specifications and follow up on interviews. It would speed up the…

I build sites in order to sell them.
Today I am putting up ALL 32 niche sites I have started in recent years as one giant niche job board network. Combined these sites have over 20,000 uniques per month generating more than 50,000 monthly page views (and growing). They generate approximately $1,000 per month between postings, backfill revenue and Adsense. All are hosted on Jobamatic. Two of the…

imagine this for just a moment….It’s the busiest shopping day of the year and you, like thousand of other executives, Managers and business owners, are there to get the best deals possible. You spend your valuable time selecting just the right product, and now it’s time to cash out. As you approach the front of the store, you hear someone shouting demands at the back of someone leaving. As you approach the check out, the shouting becomes clearer, and you catch some…

Small Steps Into A Vast Community
The staffing community has experienced an explosion over the past few years. It isn’t an explosion of members so much as it is an explosion of information. The use of…

As a job candidate you need to make sure that no one is sending your resume to a company without your permission! That means your recruiter needs to tell you the name of the company that they want to send your resume to.
Three good reasons are:

I believe the jury is still out on the "is social media a good thing or a bad thing for corporate recruiting" question. Everywhere I turn, I see recruiting departments dipping toes, jumping in or even diving into social media.
But after reading an article on Mashable recently I think there may be an unintended consequence of this rather awkward entry.
Enter my new favorite word:…

CBS News did a study and found that ninety percent of the nursing homes in the nation hired employees with criminal convictions. According to CBS News, when the government ran background checks on employees in some 260 nursing homes, 92 percent of them had criminal records. Pretty remarkable.
This is not some curious group of do-gooders reporting that much of the healthcare industry is populated by convicted…

This is really a difficult question today, to say, which is the best job board software. You find so many options on the internet search, when you put the ‘job board software’ in the search box. You must have observed that the job board software is an built in recruitment solution through internet; which helps human resource managers to manage job postings, review candidates, take employment decisions, track the applicants and manage newly joined employees.
You will find there are…

LISTEN TO THE RECRUITING ANIMAL SHOW EVERY WED AT NOON ET
In January 2010, a recruiter I've known since the mid-1990s asked me to help him with a search. He said the client was a big American company and would pay in 30 days. We made the placement but they didn't pay, or so he said. Finally, at the 90 day mark, he said he received the cheque but,…

You did it! You successfully found someone you want to extend an offer to. The hard part is over… Or is it?
I’ve been working in the recruiting field for some time now, and I’ve found that the average hiring manager takes his foot off the gas right before extending an offer, sometimes messing up the entire process by explaining sloppily that they want the candidate to join the team.
Here are some pointers to remember once you’ve identified the right candidate for the job, to…
