The fog of war or the scent of battle is hard to fathom as are many of the trials our military must face, but imagine when the young men and women who bravely served our country return to this great nation as a civilian and find even more challenges during their job search.

Haunted by the Ghost of Old School Recruiting

Remnants of A Wreck

One thing I never quite understand is how a traffic jam persists after the wreck has been cleared away. For example, I was driving to work the other morning and traffic was just stop and go. I kept wondering what was going on was on. Then we got to a spot in the road about two miles down the freeway and suddenly I was going the speed limit. Later, I heard on a traffic report (timing is everything) that the remnants of an accident that had been cleared an hour ago.… Continue

All Recruiters Are Deceitful, Ill-mannered, Money-Hungry Jerks with Slimy Reputations

Okay. I’m the first to admit it. I have a love for people. It’s like I am addicted or something. Combine this with my love of coaching, my need to do research, add a few social media tools and we are talking about one crazy, ecstatic lady!

I guess it was something that could have been detected early on. I have always enjoyed providing service and helping people in any way that I possibly could. Whether it was solving a problem, offering my assistance or even just creating a smile on…

The Top 5 Reasons Why People Are Changing Jobs

Is it just us or do so many people seem to be changing jobs at the moment? Some didn’t have a choice, of course ... need we mention a certain former Prime Minister and his inauspicious and involuntary removal from government? But aside from the country’s Very Top Job, many ‘commoners’ are changing jobs for a variety of…

For several decades, employers have been utilizing video conferencing in order to communicate with their internal staff orclients without having to fly people around the country. Video interviewing can help employers to assess from the interview the skill and confidence of the candidates by reviewing all the video interviews held. Now that all the site upgrades are pretty much out of the way, let’s get back to business. In one of my previous articles titled, “How to Ace

Your Next Job Interview”, I talked about how to answer the most common

questions asked by a hiring manager.

A lot of folks responded with, “What are the best questions to ask during an interview?”

So today I am going to look at the other side of that coin and help clarify the best questions to ask…

Brave Hiring: No Guts, No Glory

What does BP's ongoing disaster in the Gulf of Mexico have to do with your hiring practices? More than you may think.

The same thing that's dragged job boards down will kill off social recruiting (or why recruiters fail to grasp the concept of advertising)

Honestly, if I had a penny for every time I have read about how the job boards are dying I'd have ooh, let me see now, at least one of the Queen's English pounds sterling. And you know what? they are not dying of old age, they are being poisoned into oblivion by the very people who are meant to make them work - the recruiter.

Yes siree, it doesn't take much figuring out. Social media isn't the holy grail these gurus would have you believe it is. Post the same crap as you've been…
