How a Networking Event Restored My Faith in Humanity

I’m not really a fan of job fairs.  We do attend, and have had some luck lately; but over the last 10+ years in recruiting that has been the exception, not the norm.  What I hate most about job fairs is talking to hundreds of people who are more interested in my squishy ball swag than my company and probably have no idea who we are or what we do.  I hate leaving job fairs with a box full of resumes that I will never look at again.  I also really hate never hearing back from the one or two…

Post September 11 - 10 Years Later Heroes Still Inspire - Let's Roll

There is much going through my mind as we approach this weekend.  Whether it is still the challenges of facing life or remaining steadfast I have to look at those whose lives were changed over 10 years ago.  I am sure the healing continues, the hope needed must be renewed, and life goes on.

On that fateful day I was getting ready for my statistics test, and in Silicon Valley, CA, USA the world was just waking up to the knowledge that something was wrong on the east coast. …

Social Media: Make or break for candidates?

Recently I was asked by a press contact to provide some "expert" insight into how a candidate's web 2.0 presence can make or break the candidacy's perceived legitimacy. Since our practice focus is in Software, Internet, Mobile, Digital, and bleeding edge technologies, nearly all of the candidates we work with are active on each of the major social networks.  This…

I Got Lost on Twitter on my way to a Tweeting…..

Tweet chats are conversations or discussions which take place using Twitter. I had the honour of taking part in two of them this week, (#radchat on Tuesday evening and #T-chat on Wednesday evening) and was impressed with what I saw. The passion which people displayed when expressing their points on a particular question was nothing short of contagious.

As a relative new-comer to the experience, I fully expected to just observe; meaning sit at my PC and watch the…
