Yesterday I got an email from a recruiter friend announcing his availability for a new position and directing interested parties to a website where the company’s resume book would be available. Blah-blah-blah. There was the euphemistic “company restructuring”, “impacted employees”, blah-blah-blah. My heart bleeds for him.

I'd love to get everyone's take on which side they think is better. In my job search I've been considering both but really kind of wary of going back to an agency. Maybe I'm the only one with a bad experience ?....

The concept of getting work samples from potential employees is not new, and in certain industries it’s absolutely the only way to go (artist’s portfolio, etc.).
