There are two small businesses that I frequent near my Minneapolis suburban home. The first I do so out of loyalty – they rock. The second I visit because my family wants to – despite my ongoing objections. Let’s quickly examine the difference between the two customer experiences and see what they can teach us.
Von Hanson’s Meat Market - http://www.vonhansons.com/ - feels like an old-fashioned butcher shop. The product is excellent and I…

I have recently heard from many DFW professionals in the IT Staffing and Solutions business that tell me their business is back in a big way and are seeing dramatic increases in Job Requisitions both on a contract and direct hire basis.

Oh, to be the new kid on the block! Twitter, Facebook, and the rest of social media are experiencing that thrill – they’re new, exciting, and can do no wrong.
A while back, job boards were the new kids. No more messy newsprint, no more limits on ad length, immediate results – what was not to like? Recruiters flocked to job boards and, in the process,
made many boards very profitable.
But things have changed. Job boards are old news, like those ugly,…

For all my blog posts please see 'The Savage Truth'
There is one word you will always find in any analysis or even casual discussion about the recruitment industry.

Over the past few weeks, there have been big changes from well-known technology companies including Facebook, Twitter, and Ning. At the core of many of these changes is a recognition that free only works to a certain point. With this in mind, it makes sense for those who are considering new Social Recruiting services to be cautious whenever a site lists one of its major benefits as free. If you can’t figure out how they are making money now or plan to in the future, it is very risky to base…

It is no secret that technology is moving industries to a paperless system. I still remember writing papers with a pen and paper as opposed to creating a Word Document and using spell check as my spelling guru. At this time, you couldn’t even find lined paper at my desk let alone a pen to write with. Everything is on my hard drive, or back up disk drive, USB, and shared drives.…

Success. Is it defined by actions? How you treat others? The number of fills you obtain?
A month ago we had the privilege to meet the American Idol from last year Kris Allen at an event I had won tickets to from our local radio station, among the perks were the opportunity to discuss success with Kris Allen and what it meant to him. It was a brief exchange, but he said in so many words, that hard work pays…
