A rose is a rose is a lovely flower that smells good

We have nice offices with lots of tasteful plastic plants strategically located throughout. Each year, one of our summer students is responsible for taking them all outside and

hosing them off. One year, a

particularly enterprising fellow asked, after finishing the job, if he could

put “Plant Manager” on his resume. It

got chuckles all around until I figured out that he wasn’t really joking.…

Day 12 - You Can’t find a Job Without Talking #myjobhunt

Having spent 11 days, plus the intervening weekends online working, either as part of #myjobhunt or on activities for The FIRM, my wife convinced me to take a day off and to be honest I was ready for it. So what did I do? I got…

Is resume keyword counting an accurate means of evaluating talent?

Does counting keywords fill positions? Is measuring frequency of relevant keywords within a resume an accurate means of evaluating talent? Do top applicants slip through the cracks because recruiters are relying heavily on seeking out buzzwords which may be lacking on a resume?

I decided to answer these question myself by going through my last 15 placement/hire stats and analyzing the results from within the ResuWe Applicant Tracking…

UNREALISTIC CAREER GOALS aka WHO TOLD YOU THAT?

I happened to sit down next to a table of gentlemen at lunch today who were discussing what they were going to do when they were fully vested and could take retirement. Now this was one of those groups of fellows who are in their late 50's early 60's ( and over depending on what time of day it is) that i refer to lovingly as the "brain trust" at the Donut Stop. They are up on and opinonated about: politics, religion, crime, employment, law, finance, sexuality, the internet, all wars, past…

Don’t Take Chances. Verify Your Employee’s Right to Work with I-9 Verification.

Protect Your Organization with E-Verify’s I-9 Verification System

The nature of today’s global workforce leaves employers with both the benefits of access to worldwide talent and the obligation to employ only those individuals with a legal right to work. The presence of undocumented workers who have secured jobs by fraudulent means, including presentation of false documents, completion of fraudulent benefit applications, and theft of identities…

Gain Exclusively From Recruitment Software

Recruiting agencies and staffing companies both require technology to reduce their pressure of recruiting employees. Manual recruitment is a process which consumes a lot of their time, money and resources. Wastage of these will lead to the downfall of the company automatically. But the process can not be avoided. Recruitment of employees is the most vital task in any company.

But yes instead of wasting time, money and resources a solution can be derived which will save all three of… Continue

The Recruitment Partnership; You get back, what you put in!

It’s my experience that in business many companies talk of being in “partnership” with their suppliers. However the reality is that almost all so-called partnerships are simply marketing spin. The relationships are usually very uneven, often with one overly dependent on the other; this will inevitably mean that one side is either being overcharged for their service or product or vice versa.

In the recruitment industry the best results for both parties without question comes from… Continue

How do we assess Value in a boutique recruiting organization?

Building a recruiting organization is tough work. A recruiting firm is quite different than any other company in any type of industries. Why? The basic nature of our work is different from the rest of the world. We (as recruiters) don't have measurable assets that we can sell when it comes time to find a potential buyer. What can a potential buyer see (as measurable assets) in a recruiting organization?

As recruiters, we can normally say that our 'client lists' are our prized… Continue
