New Year's Resolutions

We all set them. And most of the time, fail miserably. That's because we focus on the grandiose versus aiming for the realistic. When you think about what 2008 will bring for your organization, you must

keep in mind what is reasonably obtainable, and at the same time,

Recruiter or HR Executive, are you setting yourself up to succeed or

fail? Are your objectives designed to meet the business and HR…

Got Flowers???

What a wonderful surprise! Today I received flowers from someone that I recruited. Her name is Karen Lee and I placed her at Mary Kay in a Business Analyst position back in November. I had sent her a card in December just to touch base with her and she responded with sending me gorgeous flowers! I have been recruiting for 9 years and have never received flowers from someone I recruited. This has made my day, heck...maybe even my whole year! Thanks Karen! :)

Sales Recruiter Featured on ESPN!

OK - so I wasn’t actually "featured" on ESPN, but my email has been blowing up for the last hour or so because I was just on ESPN for the second time in less than a year.

Specifics for China in 2008

A lack of specificity is not something I am normally accused of.

But recently I had a conversation with someone who asked for much more, specifics that is. So here is a bullet-point-specific-article on China, and about what you can expect to see if you have to come here to do HR or recruitment in 2008. It might get you up to speed quicker than a narrative.

If you are from China it might give you some perspective on what…

MN Headhunter Celebrates 10 Years As A Minnesota IT Recruiter

As posted on my MN Headhunter Blog:

Celebrates 10 years, more like survives.

10 years is a long time to do something. Other than being a recruiter and a Gopher football fan I am not sure what else I have done for 10 years. Besides obvious things like being a son, friend, etc.

Ten years, 2 months to be exact. I am not big on anniversary dates so I missed…

Prepare, Prepare and Prepare Some More

As someone who has interviewed many people over the years, I can tell you that it is obvious to the interviewer which applicants have properly prepared for the interview, which applicants have prepared a little, and who hasn't prepared at all.

Thanks to the Internet, you don't need to put in a huge amount of effort to dig up useful information in preparation for your interview. Focus on researching three categories of information:

  1. The company
  2. The…

Transitioning back into the office after working from home for years...

Today is my first day of having to drive into and work in the office. I have worked so long from my home that I'm kind of in shock. I had forgotten how…
