Radio Resumes by "The Bull" and Clear Channel. 94.9

The unemployment rate went up to 9.3%. Thats approximately 400,000 people in Georgia.

To aid the unemployed community, a Radio in Atlanta is doing something different,

something not many have thought about, something "out of the box...."

They are offering their listeners an opportunity to advertise them self, a 30 sec window to go on air.

They can mention their name and their story on the channels website, the radio promises to air it..

30 sec is a lot of time.. But… Continue

Social networking in Office? Its Not Professional.

Social networking is the talk of the day, they have replaced pubs where people used to hangout after office hours, now its all My space, Twitter or Facebook. If you are not in it then you are ancient. These social networking does give you kind of security from the prying eyes of the manager.

Bring your organization to life!

A Worthwhile Investment.

More and more HR recruiters are using video technology to solve the challenge of nurse vacancies. According to a Wharton School of Business National Research survey, there is a 51% greater understanding of any subject presented through video. The survey also states that prospects are 72% more likely to purchase a product or service when video is used. This translates directly to job candidates' positive response when introduced to the facility through a… Continue

Greatest Guitarist Evuh!

Who is (or was) the greatest guitarist ever? I asked that question on recruitingblogs.com two years ago. It was a serious question. Someone recently replied Dolly Parton.

Think about it for a second. If you had to come up with a list of ten bands that really kicked ass where would you start?

Look, everyone has got an opinion here. But,… Continue

Need a promotion? PROMOTE Yourself!

I've spoken before about that success of an HR person, or a Recruitment professional in the corporate world is akin to an umpire in a sporting event. If you don't notice them, then they are doing something right.

However, as some of my English friends say.. "Bollocks to that"

In the Recruitment world, Agency or Internal, it is a challenge to get that promotion, unless of course you are the last person standing in an agency! I know many people who now run 200+ people… Continue

Data Capture And Automation Made Real Easy.

Social media as a base for recruiting is the new trend..

Be it twitter or my space or facebook.

Its effective..

Finding Candidate and when i say candidates i mean great candidates who match the requirement to a T are easy to find..

But when you post a job posting, resumes just pileup (given the current conditions).

It becomes quite a challenge to get data from those resumes which match your requirement,

fortunately solutions are available for automated data capture… Continue

Is Social Media Changing Use of 3rd Party Staffing Vendors?

July 14, 2009

For the short term, I believe yes. It creates a forum for people to connect, and find new candidates in mass form. However, the great thing about Recruiters is that we take all the information in, whittle it down and create a nice tight package wrapped in the form of a great candidate. This is what we do.

Think about it – you post on Twitter that you’re looking for an Art Director. It gets retweeted time and time again until your inbox is overflowing and you don’t… Continue

My Bed Is My Office....

Some days there is nothing like waking up, stretching out, watching your dogs cuddled nicely on the bed, your lap top open and ready to conquer the world when you stop and wonder, why on earth would anyone want to drive into the office today? One of the benefits of owning your own business is that you can define your work life and your work place. With the age of Twitter and Facebook allows you to be everywhere and anywhere and “work” can take on a whole new meaning.

With the price… Continue

Why do Recruiters want to hear Objections from Clients and Candidates?

Did you know that over 60% of sales are made after the offer has been rejected 5 times? If you are a recruiter or an account manager then you need to make certain that you are hearing NO as it may happen 5 times before you get to a YES. It doesn't matter if you are asking for them to send you a resume or return a signed fee agreement. Unfortunately 75% of the recruiters and salespeople out there will give up after the first rejection. This explains why 20% of the team closes 80% of the… Continue

The job search is no time for nicknames

This entry is more geared towards job seekers rather than recruiters.

It is something simple that can lead to a bit of confusion and prevent you from getting submitted or it may lead to you falling through the cracks and that is nicknames.

Lets say your name is Ray Jay Johnson Junior.

I would drop the Junior and go by the same name through out the process.

If your resume lists your name as Ray, be Ray through the entire process. Never say, "You can call me… Continue

Help with job search

Recruiters, I need help. I was recently caught in the tsunami wave of layoffs at IBM. My consulting background is varied. I am experienced in BI, DG, MDM and presales consulting.

Here is my dilemma; It appears that many of the recruiters that contact me are looking for singular toolset or just do not understand that one person can be experienced in presales and post sales consulting. There also seems to be a problem understanding that one person can be an architect and actually know… Continue

Simplify your Hiring Process: One less headache

Recruiting is a misunderstood art form. For the shortsighted hiring managers out there, the word recruiting brings to mind hours of distraction that could be better spent on their “real job”. One thing the recession has taught us (particularly the mortgage crisis) is that any decision based solely on short term ramifications will generally get us nowhere in the long run. This tendency to hunker down and avoid any tasks not directly associated with… Continue

Random thoughts: Anything not worth doing, is worth not-doing well.

What’s the true cost of all the excess fees airlines are charging passengers nowadays? Right now we pay $25 for one checked bag; $50 for the next; more fees for anything weighing over 50 pounds; $2 per bag for curbside check-in; $3 for a bag of stale peanuts; $3 to access last year’s movie or reruns of the Match Game; yet more fees for an aisle or window seat. What’s next? An in-flight pay toilet? All that makes you want to buy the lousy in-flight $10 cocktail! When I fly and deal… Continue

Does industry news matter?

Every day I peruse ERE.net, Cheezhead, Workforce, and a bunch of other sites. Why? Well, of course I’m avoiding my ‘real’ work…but I’m also trying to keep up with the ever-shifting winds of change in the HR, recruiting, and job board worlds. This task can take as little as 5 minutes – but it often sucks up much more time.

So I asked myself: does it matter? Is there really any reason to spend time that I could otherwise be devoting to my business and clients? For example, if Monster… Continue
