Well the Twitter outages are no secret to anyone that's been using the web based micro-blogging tool lately. And the picture of the whale being carried across the sea by small (tweeting) birds when Twitter has reached maximum capacity says it all. And despite the fun we have blaming…

Microsoft Shows Its Hand
by Steve Baldwin , Monday, June 2, 2008
IT'S BEEN CALLED A STUNT, a desperate move, and "little more than a gimmick." It's been derided as a failed idea already tried by Amazon's A9, iWon, and other rebate-hawking sites that never gained traction. It is, of course, Microsoft's Live Search Cash Back, the first of what promises to be a series of "disruptive" initiatives designed to derail Google's overwhelming, yet ever-growing dominance in search (now… Continue
Microsoft Wins Default Search Space On HP Computers
Search Engine Land
While the blogosphere focused on Microsoft's cashback deal, the software giant was plugging away at another, behind-the-scenes deal that would secure it even more search market share. It's a deal with HP for Live Search to be packaged as the default engine with all new computers--and Microsoft wrestled the agreement away from Yahoo.
The Future of Search
You may have just become accustomed to the idea of Search 3.0, but get prepped for search's latest evolution -- and it's more socially powered and human influenced than ever before.
Danny Sullivan recaps the growth of algorithmic search from strictly on-page factors (Search 1.0), to off-page factors like links (Search 2.0), to blended or Universal Search (Search 3.0) and arrives at this new age of Mahalos, Eureksters, Twitters and personalized… Continue
The TV show "Deal or No Deal" is a game of chance, but ensuring that your finalist candidates accept your offer does not have to have the same odds. Achieving a stellar track record of “offer acceptance” requires market knowledge, proactive communication, and attention to detail.

How well do you know your CandidateCustomer Segments? (Yes, the word CandidateCustomer is together to illustrate a point.)
"-- CRM Gets Social --
A survey conducted recently by The Economist Intelligence Unit aims to shed some light on the disconnect between companies' desire to be more customer-centric and where the focus of new CRM initiatives should be. The report recommends… Continue
The advent of the electronic resume was supposed to create a hiring utopia for corporate America. Job-seekers could send their resumes into corporations who could slide, dice, filter, and parse this data into actionable intelligence.
What happened? A glut of data overwhelmed the ability of recruiters to work efficiently, and the rapid change of data (from contact numbers to jobs to cities) made it difficult to say that information sent to a… Continue

I read an article by Debra Walker at NetTemp's Crossroads Newsletter titled the "Ten Things a Recruiter will never tell you". Naturally I was curious, since I consider myself a fairly open book and am not afraid to discuss much of anything with a candidate. I still can't figure out how to paste a link into this blog, so my apologies for you having to cut and paste this into a browser: http://www.net-temps.com/adcgi/banner.cgi?ref=crnews&ch=2885&id=crs_2885.
We are up and running now about 30 days in Singapore. Partnerships are being formed, proposals written, and job orders are under search! The new and improved website should be up this week as well, designed by those fabulously artistic guys in Bangkok!
I have a one off candidate search going on now in the Middle East. It is a spin-off from SAP consulting recruitment we do. It looks like this:

The title of today’s post is a reference to the Reality TV Show “The Last Comic Standing”. As a professional talent scout, I am enthralled with any reality show that has to do with the talent selection process. I get hooked on the suspense of determining the “cream of the crop”. There are several interesting aspects to the format of these shows that are applicable to the hiring process.
My daughter's first birthday is in a couple of weeks and I have to say that I'm taken aback at my reaction to her first year of life. Fatherhood is amazing.
Everyone thought that we were having a boy because of how my wife was carrying (we waited to find out), except for me. Something inside my soul told me that we were having a girl, and low and behold, almost a year ago she arrived and turned me and my wife into a family.
I could not love my daughter more than I do and know that… Continue
