But some employers are gun-shy about utilizing contractors out of fear of co-employment issues. In this series, we will examine the co-employment risk and how your client companies can minimize that risk when utilizing contractors.

Co-employment exists when two or more legally separated employers share potential or actual employer…

Post September 11 - 10 Years Later Heroes Still Inspire - Let's Roll

There is much going through my mind as we approach this weekend.  Whether it is still the challenges of facing life or remaining steadfast I have to look at those whose lives were changed over 10 years ago.  I am sure the healing continues, the hope needed must be renewed, and life goes on.

On that fateful day I was getting ready for my statistics test, and in Silicon Valley, CA, USA the world was just waking up to the knowledge that something was wrong on the east coast. …

Social Media: Make or break for candidates?

Recently I was asked by a press contact to provide some "expert" insight into how a candidate's web 2.0 presence can make or break the candidacy's perceived legitimacy. Since our practice focus is in Software, Internet, Mobile, Digital, and bleeding edge technologies, nearly all of the candidates we work with are active on each of the major social networks.  This…

I Got Lost on Twitter on my way to a Tweeting…..

Tweet chats are conversations or discussions which take place using Twitter. I had the honour of taking part in two of them this week, (#radchat on Tuesday evening and #T-chat on Wednesday evening) and was impressed with what I saw. The passion which people displayed when expressing their points on a particular question was nothing short of contagious.

As a relative new-comer to the experience, I fully expected to just observe; meaning sit at my PC and watch the…

Groan…Still No Jobs Improvement

I’ll say it again: no amount of government spending or even great staffing software is going to turn this unemployment situation around in the next few months.

I Hit my Lucky Number This Friday.

Any time i have to pick a number between 1 and 10 i pick 7.  I always have.  I don't know why it just is what it is.  I like the way 7 looks when i write it or type it.

For years i had 7 recruiters on staff.  When one quit or i fired one i would hire one more, never over 7 and never under 7.  If somebody came along who wanted to join the team i had to tell them that they would have to wait until somebody moved, quit or died then i would give them a call.  I once called a guy and…

I'm sorry, I need a better job description. It's the law.

Temp workers were protesting in South Boston  on September 1st in favor of the REAL (Reform Employment Agency Law) Act which a few Massachusetts State Reps are sponsoring. I found one item interesting, which is to "provide written notice of key job description details to the worker ".   As I heard myself belt out loud a nice "HA", I thought… yeah it isn't always the agency's fault.

Over the course of my 15+ plus years recruiting, I unfortunately came across  one…

New Jersey Legislators Introduce Immigration Workers Law Similar to Arizona's

New Jersey may soon be implemented a bill similar to the Arizona legislation, the Legal Arizona's Workers Act,  first signed by former Governor, Jane Napolitano, in 2008.

Two New Jersey State Senators have introduced a similar bill barring employment of unauthorized workers and requiring all employers in the state to use the Federal government's E-Verify employment eligibility verification system.  Republican Senators Robert Singer and Steven Oroho have introduced…
