Maybe you’re looking for a new IT career. Maybe you’re content with the IT job you currently have. But in light of the recent economic recovery – as slow as it may be – the technology sector has weathered the storm quite well (compared to other industries) and exciting, new opportunities within large and small IT organizations will continue to grow in the Southeast and across the nation.
Whether you’re actively searching for an IT job, or if you’re ready but just not quite sure if now…

Remember it is not personal!!!
I am taking time out form my series on “staffing function” to address those in need.
Times are strange right now. People are losing their jobs for the strangest reasons. You must always remember that in most cases it is not personal. In most cases it is not personal, it is business. That is not to say sometimes it is never personal, politics make for strange bedfellows, I have been victim of that myself more than once.…

[Based on an answer I provided today on a LinkedIN Staffing/Hiring question:]
There is a moment near the end of job interviews when the interviewer finally is relaxed. When the interviewer has been asking questions, and assessing your answers, they are working. When you hear the magic question “What questions do you have for me?”, they are ready to relax. This is a golden opportunity that most interviewees…

In my years of headhunting top talent I’ve helped candidates come up with Quirky Sneaky, Desperate, Slightly Kooky, Yet Effective Ways to leave the office, (in the middle of the day) - especially for demanding executives that need to meet them asap. Here are 10 of my favorites...

Staffing Software is great, but it can’t tell you where to look for candidates in the never-ending (but always exciting) world of global staffing. I did some digging on the internet and found the top five sites (by volume) that job seekers – i.e. candidates for your staffing agency – used when they’re looking for work in 2010:
1. Yahoo! Hot Jobs: 27,900,000 monthly…

For the past few months one banner ad has caught my attention as I visit my favorite websites. It's a banner ad for Harry Joiner the eCommerce headhunter. I see it a lot on sites like BusinessInsider, TechCrunch and HuffPost.
And I love it. He is personalizing his business by adding his picture and the giant phone number is a clear call to action. The banner links to his current…

I was checking out the SHRM Staffing conference Twitter feed the other day and an interesting question was brought up by Gerry Crispin:
When does a candidate become a candidate?
This is a great question and it got me thinking about a question that is just as pertinent to recruiting organizations:
When does candidate experience begin?
There seem to be a…

There is nothing more frustrating for a candidate then taking the time to fill out an application form, submitting it and then hearing nothing. How long do they wait for before assuming they haven’t been successful then start the application process all over again somewhere else?
A variation of this is when a screen comes up once you’ve applied, telling you that due to the high number of applicants, they will only contact you if you’ve been successful.
Looking around, it’s…

I know there are a ton out there. Please let me know if anyone uses a system that is strong on both the client and candidate side, as well as being accessible via the web from anywhere, and has potential to expand with a company.
Also, how do they tend to charge- per user, per month? If you don't mind, pricing figures would be helpful as well.
Thanks!

How Not to Get Hired at Groupon: Stalk Us. This may seem slightly obvious, but excessive social networking with recruiters can sometimes work against your chances of getting hired. We ask that everyone apply via our career site, but there are some additional steps you can take. While we very much appreciate someone doing some extra homework and finding us on a professional site such as LinkedIn, try to keep your…

As a Recruiter you know that you can find out a lot about a candidate socially before they come in for an interview by using sites like Facebook and Twitter. On the other hand you have candidates who may be researching who they are interviewing with and deciding if they would want to work with your company based on the company's online brand as well. The way your company and brand are presented to Type A talent could help them to make a decision on if they would want to work for you, even…

What are you thoughts when it's obvious that a blog post here on RecruitingBlogs.com was spun/created by a vendor just so they could hyperlink some key words back to their website or the product they are selling?

Going on a job interview is nerve racking and I am certain dreaded by most professionals. Where do the nerves and stigma come from? Previous interviews that didn’t go well and the position that wasn’t offered, that’s where.
Think about it, you have finally gotten the dream interview for the job you have always wanted. 5 minutes in, things start going south and fast. Stumbling answers, twisted tongue, and the sweat - the company can see right through you. They know all your…

Hot Spots are areas where demand is outpacing supply. The result is that prospects in these areas are more likely to be open to using your services, especially if you provide data, such as this information, on market demand and the impact this will have on their ability to hire quality talent.
Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerks in Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana (153% normal demand)
Computer Programmers in Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta (153% normal…

Many students, particularly those attending university, are now choosing to get a part-time job alongside their studies.
Due to the increased cost of living, lots of undergraduates are increasingly finding that they are unable to have the quality of life they were hoping for simply by surviving on their student loan.
Others without the luxury of a loan to pay for their tuition fees must balance their studies with part-time or even full-time employment, in…

And here’s another Top Ten list! This time for Recruitment Process Outsourcing companies.. As usual, it’s based on feedback we’ve heard, people we’ve worked with, awards that have been awarded and even the general word about town.
My Top Ten whacky comparison today is the Top Ten Weird Sports. This list may not be as weird, but it’s just as exciting-I promise.
So here we go…
