Hello, First blog post. All I can think about is my need in Honolulu for a b2b sales professional. This person must have lived in Hawaii for a minimum five years. This is a great opportunity for the right person, with the right source of motivation and existing network in the Hawaii business community.
I've tried several tried and true approaches, including LinkedIn, Jigsaw, FaceBook and the big boards. My researcher has tried CraigsList and a few other boards.
Going back…

In considering the question of the future of recruiting, it all comes down to the classic conflict of Man vs. Machine. We’ve seen it before, books and movies depicting future societies that become overly dependent on advanced technology, resulting in the threat of extinction to mankind. “
Battlestar Gallactica,” “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep”, “Blade Runner,” “ Terminator,” etc. All of these books and movies tell the story of the…

I'll never forget going to visit one of my branch recruiting offices and watching a rookie recruiter dial and hang up, over and over again. I walked over and asked her why she did not leave her client prospects or candidates a voicemail message and she told me, "I never leave messages because nobody ever calls me back."
So how do you get call backs? Why do some people get a ton of incoming calls to the office in response to their messages while others are forced to just make outbound…

To improve recruitment metrics taking a more proactive approach will furnish more successful results. Taking on a more proactive recruitment process means engaging with folks long before a position comes open by building a pipeline of qualified talent that is ready to be put into place as soon as a position is available. For many companies the challenge is time. There are so many active openings that there isn’t enough time to pipeline for future ones. Another challenge is resources. Who should…

To say that I think a lot about recruiting and hiring is an understatement. Before I co-founded a technology company that builds
recruiting software, my business partner and I, started and ran a couple of recruiting firms, an RPO and over the years managed dozens of corporate recruiting departments. In addition to helping countless other organizations hire, we’ve had to build quite a few of our own teams over the…

Is your job search taking longer than expected? Most are right now. Certainly the difficult job market is making things harder. However, a great number of people could speed up the process by asking themselves five critical questions.
Take time, think them through, be honest, and your job search may improve dramatically!
1. What makes me unique? Companies are seeing dozens or hundreds of resumes for each opening. They interview several people as well. It doesn’t…

When it's time to shut the computer and go to bed, if you force yourself maybe a couple of extra minutes, sometimes you find something that made those extra few minutes worth it. Like tonight for instance, I don't know how many other people will find this interesting but if you look at
this page which looks like a…

For a college student, entering a College Career Fair venue is like walking into a cafeteria. Both facilities are crammed with decisions, persuasion and the uncertainty of what to choose or where to turn next. Sure, students have to do some impressing, but at College Career Fairs, companies are the ones who possess the task of attracting top talent. Students and representatives from companies both play eminent roles in the career fair game. Students have to take off their sweats, conjure up a…

There are a lot of discussions going on across the internet concerning change as well as the new technologies taking place that can assist recruiters in various ways. The major buzz is about social networking, social media, everything 'Web 2.0'. Some people consider the internet a fad, one that will go out with the typewriter once the next major technology comes around the corner. That may be true, but it is important to utilize the trends of your current time.
While taking the time…

A year ago, I launched InternetRecruiting.us as a job board directory and invited job boards to join and post news. It was an interesting experiment but didn't really move me. So, I'm remaking the website with a new purpose and a new domain. So
onlinerecruitingnews.com will be a coop of 50 dues paying job boards who want to increase their visibility. Whether or not you want to become a coop member, you'll still be welcome to…

The same old job boards don't work (including spiders). We need to have a website with a new methodology to be able to connect candidates with job openings with more selectivity. Instead of hiring managers receiving hundreds of resumes (most don't qualify) - they would receive ONLY the qualified ones (a much smaller quantity).
