From
Cheezhead - Seems just like yesterday we were reporting the end of itzbig, the first of the eHarmonies to officially go bye-bye. Not so fast! Back from the dead, former itzbig CTO, and now its CEO, Asad Khan sent me a message today proclaiming the company’s rebirth.
“We are changing our model to become more of a technology player for other job boards so as to deliver our superior matching and score card functionality to the widest audience possible.”…

Hi All,
I dont know whats going on but i'm noticing decreased utility with the larger sites like Monster.com and Dice.com when compared to new comers like InterviewTomorrow.com I think we are seeing a change in utility with the larger sites and smallers (free) sites are working to provide value. What do you guys think?

Twenty thousand business leaders and managers in ME, NH, VT, and RI will arrive to work on Tuesday to find a letter of support from the leading recruiting resource in those states: JobsInME, JobsInNH, JobsInVT, and JobsInRI.
I am proud of the initiative that we have taken to support employers and employees who will be among the workforce reductions in 2009. I am proud that JobsInTheUS is willing to support such an endeavor, and our willingness to accept short term costs to provide a…

Just posted a new vidcast about the dos and don'ts for careers sites.
Check it out here or read below:
I'm in the midst of consulting a client on how to make their careers site more effective, and every time I do some research to take a look at what companies are doing out there, I get rather depressed seeing how terrible careers sites are these days.
They are the single most important part of any company's site, as…

A vast majority of my blog has been dedicated to candidate advice. I figured amongst the cold blasts of snow, a lighthearted candidate story or two would be appropriate.
#1 – The Cold Shoulder
I was working on a Technical Support role for a company in Boston. I had a lengthy phone discussion with said candidate, for sanity’s sake we shall call him “Bob.” Bob seems interested in the role, I explain the need to meet with him prior, etc. Shortly thereafter, I receive a few emails…

Is the client or the candidate the more important customer? When working for a staffing firm I can recall having this argument many times. It usually started when the candidate wanted more out of the client thus making some negotiations necessary. It was a two-way street, though, and the salespeople made their argument loud and clear when the client made similar requests.
So who really is the customer? The client? The candidate? Both? If both, who takes precedence during tough…

I may have an opportunity part time working in an agency and we have been talking about light industrial as one of the areas I might concentrate on. The question is, what does an Agency need as far as workers comp or anything else to be able to supply companies with these type of workers. This would be in NJ. Thanks!

"Before, so many of us were living a good life here...Now we cannot pay our loans. We are all just sleeping, smoking, drinking coffee and having headaches because of the situation."
To make matters worse, a

Hi group, I'm new here. I've been in mid-level retained recruiting for quite a while (I helped start JobPlex.com back in the late 90s). Like a lot of folks in our industry, even with great clients, I'm experiencing a slow period. My question is, is it possible to market solid candidates I worked with for retained searches that didn't get offers? About half are still employed and half are between jobs. It's tough listening to their stories. So has anybody here had any luck taking great…

Despite the massive layoffs across the board in technology from Big Blue to small-fry tech companies, there appears to be a streak of confidence among the masses. People in technology – engineers, software developers, IT, sales and marketing – seem to be a bit stronger through this crisis than in the past. Some of this may have to do with the bubble bursting on many of us in the dot com era. Or, it may have to do with the hope a new administration promises. More likely, much of it has to do…

While on Facebook I noticed an ad to the Left hand side which connected to a recent graduate from University of South Florida with a Masters degree in Engineering Management. I clicked on the ad which took me to the following resume

Which also included links to his Linked In Profile.
I am not currently recruiting for engineering roles but I contacted him. He said that he is getting responses and…
